Weekly Photo Contest 30th Jan to 5th Feb: Rule of Thirds

I cannot disagree about the lighting. It was mid-day on Maui under a perfectly clear sky. It was in December. At home, there was a lot of snow and extremely cold temperatures. On Maui, it was 75-80 degrees, clear skies, and warm breezes. Flat lighting seems like a small price to pay.

Anyway, you need a fire extuingisher? On the stairs? On the entrance? Add some facial hair perhaps?

Great attenmp but I think your perspective still needs some work and so does scaling to really blend. Maybe light matching should be further homogenized for better results.

Must say that I loved @Hughmac's picture - it was beautifully shot and wonderfully atmospheric.

And the entries of the two winners @Alexander.Of.Oz - what a beautifully taken shot - and @CmdrLaForge - stunning colours, and composition and rendition of same - were superb.

Some of the other entries were very good, too - in common with a number of the others, I must say that I liked @Apple fanboy's stag, very impressive, and - yes, - obviously a bit of a poser.

God this brings back some memories. I spent my childhood years growing up in Taiwan. lost count of the number of times was at this place with field trips and family/friends visiting!
