OK gang that's your lot. I've had minor surgery today so i'm wrapping this up so I can go and self medicate with a bottle of wine.

Needfx - What a great picture. I love this type of shot and it's executed really well here. Love how the strong backlight contrasts so nicely with the shadow and gives the figure a lovely halo. Fantastic.

Kenoh - I'm wondering whether this was the shot that you said got some negative comments on Facebook. If it is then they are clearly idiots as it's an absolute belter! I love the treatment you've given it - it gives a really strong epic feel to the landscape. Ansel Adamsish there Ken. Great job.

Alex of Oz - Brilliant use of negative space there. I like the fact that the small object draws you in but I wish I knew what it was as it would make it all the more interesting if it was a recognisable object. Fantastic shot though.

AFB - Despite the fact you deliberately posted this because you know i'm terrified of spiders and you're mean I think it's one of your best shots. The angle is great - the lighting is perfect and there is plenty of horrifying detail on offer. I only have one criticism and that's that it's not on fire.

Hughmac - Lovely sunset pic with your trademark saturated colours. It's a really nice shot but I think it would have fit the brief even better if the foreground and trees where more silhouetted. I might not work like that to be honest, but just a thought.

AlexH - I really like this. The guy's stance is great (don't know whether he was deliberately posed or not but it works really well). The dark foreboding entrance in total darkness works fantastically well for the subject matter. It speaks of the dark times ahead for those unfortunate souls having to undergo rehab. Yeah that's just a good photo fella. Well done.

Akash.nu - What a grand building! Loads to look at architecturally and I like the addition of the two folks walking up the steps. The treatment is not to my tastes though i'm afraid. It's a bit too yellow. I think this would have worked really well in B&W with some strong contrast to really exaggerate the light and shade.

dwfaust - What a cutie. I love the dark and light contrast here. I wish it wasn't so soft though and again it's not to my tastes colour wise.

Deep Diver - I don't think that I want to know what is going on here. It looks like something from The Blair Witch Project. Very ethereal and spooky. Works well for the look you was going for.

Janichsan - Fits the brief nicely. Lovely colours and great silhouettes (I really need to stop trying to spell that word!). My only issue with it is that the shoreline makes the top quarter of the picture look like you've used too fast a shutter speed for your flash and you've got the shutter in shot (does that make sense?).

cogi0490 - Lovely use of flash there to get a nice contrasty picture. I'm guessing that your cat is now blind :) I like that you can see the flash. If it was me I would clone out the bright line on the right hand side of the shot about halfway up so that it is completely black - as well as the slight glowing blob just aboved the cat's head. Nice shot though.

butch10x - Yeah that fits the bill. It's a shame that the pole with it's cable is in the way of the buildings as it's a bit distracting but you have to live with that with a lot of city shots really don't you. Beautiful light on the main building though. My geography is not great being a middle Englander but that's San Francisco right?

Indydenny - Erm. I don't have a lot to say about it i'm afraid fella. Not so much light and shade as slightly underexposed. Sorry.

MollyC - Nicely done. Something that I rarely do is take shots in portrait mode. Partly because i'm lazy and mainly because i'm just not a portrait orientation kind of guy. You've nailed it with this one though. Nice silhouettes (nope - still didn't spell it right) in a nice pose. Ok it's a bit blurry and noisy but it captures the moment nicely.

tcphoto1 - I love urbex stuff but I think you would have really benefited from a tripod here as it's really soft and there is a strange colour cast going on.

oblomow - You snuck in right at the last minute there as I was typing this out. That's a beautiful shot. I love the colours and the lone figure. Really nicely done.

OK folks that's it. Sorry if I offended anyone with my comments. It's just my opinion.

Really difficult to pick a winner this week as there are a few I really like but let's roll the dice and see where they land.....oh.....interesting:

1st Place - Kenoh - Wall hanging worthy
2nd Place Needfx - Right up my alley
3rd Place - AFB (even if it did make me hate you a little bit)

You're up Ken. On to the next one.........

Nice feed back for everyone. And thanks for the third place (even if you don't like the subject matter!).
Minor surgery? Hope everything is okay.

Err... wow! Thank you. This is very humbling. There are a LOT of amazing entries this week. Well done guys!
I do really like @Apple fanboy's and @cogi0490 's entries. Fantastic work!

@needfx, fantastic image and well @Alexander.Of.Oz I have gushed about your work already this week.

Yes, it was this one that they mauled. I love it I was trying to show the harsh contrast in the shadow that the clouds caused. It really did look that extreme in reality - except in colour of course.

Wow thank you so much... ok. will think of a new theme - a hard one so it challenges folks and makes judging easier...
Thanks bud :)
Yeah hope you are OK man...

Great topic. Great images. Great judging. Well done everyone.

I was going for something else altogether but Mrs. DD turned on the flashlight just as I was pressing the shutter release. I guess it was better for her not to trip over the brush.

Hope you feel better soon.

BTW... Have you seen the trailer for the new Spiderman movie?
Just thought I'd ask...........

Thanks for the feedback and excellent judging @MacRy I have absolutely no idea what the heck it is either, I just loved that it was there to add an emphasis of some sort! It was the way the light fanned across the room in several sections and trailed off that I truly wanted to capture. I hope you heal up quickly. I just had laser surgery for kidney stones last week and I'm a bit freaked out knowing that I have a flexible straw inside of me going from my kidney to my bladder!
