Welcome to this weeks contest.

To test your powers of composition I thought I'd go for Unusual Perspective this week. So basically anything seen from an unusual angle.

Contest ends: 16th April 2015

Rules:

1. Be creative and have fun.

2. Please submit only one photo per contest.

3. Please do not comment on photos until after the judging has taken place.

4. The contest runs for exactly one week, starting NOW! (see time/date stamp at the start of this thread)

5. At the end of the week, The judge (last week's winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible. (Judge has 24 hours to make decision)

6. The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme)

Here's an example of what I mean.

Nice shot. I like the fact he is a bit blurry (low shutter speed I'm guessing), it adds to it I feel..

No rude comments regarding the title!

That's a really cool shot. Great symmetry and really good perspective. I'd love to know what lens you used for that. Looks like a very wide one.

Really nice. Love the treatment on it and it fits the brief really well. Nice.

This was the last pair of shoes my father wore before he died in 1997.

Simple but effective. I like it.

Love Locks

I remember this one. Like I said the first time I saw it - I like that you focused at the rear of the frame rather than the near post as it's different to all of the other shots of this type I've seen. If it were me I'd probably convert it to B&W as you've got some wicked chromatic aberrations going on there.

Epiphone the Dot

I like these kinds of shots. That's some narrow DOF you've got going on there. The only thing I don't like about it is the bokeh to the rear of the picture as I find it distracting. What is it by the way?

Cool shot. I have no idea what it is, but I like it.

Colourful Rugs in Otavalo, Ecuador

Nice use of patterns and lines.

Splash of Yellow

That's a really good shot. Just what I had in mind. You don't often see a vase of flowers from that perspective. Really good job Hugh.

Looking down the barrel

Brilliant! Love the framing. Love the perspective. Love the leading lines. Perfect.

Another good fit for the brief. Cute shot. Shame she's in shadow but you worked with the light you got I guess.

Sorry some issue with picture sharing on Flickr Grrr.
Anyway I'll post a j-Peg.

Well done for getting your submission in just in time AFB. I'm docking points for use of selective colour because you know I don't care for it ;) I like the idea and it fits the brief again. I do find the shadow distracting unfortunately and it has blown out the left hand side somewhat.

Thanks everyone for your entries this week. Not too many for me to have to judge thankfully :) So here are the winners:

3rd place goes to AlexH for his really cool shot of the guitarist. I could see that in a magazine.

2nd place goes to Hughmac for his unique take on a view of a vase of flowers.

1st place goes to fireman32 for his brilliant cannon photo. I loved everything about it.

Well done fireman32.

Onto the next one.....

Wow, thanks for that! Well worth the backache lying under a table shooting upwards :)

Sorry to say, what about Chappers' photo, I think you missed it in your critiques?

Cheers :)

Well deserved...

Thx MacRy. Yes was trying to make it look like Kelpie horse looking over a stable gate. Then brother in law stepped into frame. Despite shouting stand still, at an 8 second exposure, he moved!

Weekly Photo Contest 9th-16th April - Unusual Perspective

Wow that's really weird. I definitely put critique in for Chappers and checking it just now in Tapatalk it is appearing, but when looking in Safari it has disappeared. Tapatalk really is a piece of **** these days!

Yeah, I've junked Tapatalk on my Android phone and taken up with Firefox, which is now considerably better than the first versions out.

Cheers :)

It's such a shame what they've done to Tapatalk. It's really the best way of keeping track of where you have posted and replying to threads, but their constant updating of features that no-one wanted or likes is just crap. Loads of people complain to them about it and they just don't listen to their users.

Tapatalk might be annoying, but the latest Flickr update means I couldn't post from it at all!

Well done everyone. Lots of good photos. I didn't really think my photo fitted that well. But I didn't really have a better idea. Selective colour is like marmite. Love it or hate it. I liked the subtlety of the blue over the pure B&W. And the sun was very bright. I was suprised how well it turned out.
