Welcome to this weeks photo contest! The theme is serenity.

Last week's theme was movement. I do love energy and movement running through an image, but this week I want to focus on the other end of the spectrum. This week I'm asking for your best serenity themed photographs. Any photograph conveying a sense of serenity, peacefulness, and/or relaxing calm is invited. So hit me with your sunsets, cozy creeks tucked away in peaceful forests, or anything else you interpret as serene.

Enjoy!

Rules:
  • Be creative and have fun.
  • You may only submit one photo per contest.
  • Please do not comment on photos until after the judging has taken place.
  • The contest runs for one week, starting NOW! (see time/date stamp at the start of this thread.)
  • At the end of the week, The Judge (last week's Winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
  • The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).

We had a very similar theme back in June Alex of Tranquillity. We set up a master list to avoid repeating themes that winners need to add to each time they create another one. The list can be found here.

Well, it's been quite a while since that similar subject, and since we have a few new members and others that will have taken fresh photos, why not just carry on?

Just make sure nobody posts the entry they submitted last year.

Cheers :)

I knew not reading the instruction manual would come back to bite me someday...

Tranquility is a synonym of serenity. They're pretty close. I was going for a theme somewhat opposite of last week's.

Here's the deal, no one has posted an image yet. I still like the theme, but if a couple more users post their desire for a substantially different theme, I don't mind changing it. I dig democracy. Except when judging, then I'm a dictator.

If anyone can post a picture that perfectly encapsulates Serenquility then I say we go with that..... as well as petitioning the OED to get it included.

A bit late, but I'd have suggested mediocre or dull as a theme. Then I'd have plenty to post! ;)

Last week's Movement wasn't that different from the recent Motion one I judged but as far as I could see there was only one picture that was the same in both so, as @CmdrLaForge said, let's keep it and not double up on photos and carry on.
