Didn't this finish yesterday Alex?Welcome to this weeks photo contest! The theme is serenity.
Last week's theme was movement. I do love energy and movement running through an image, but this week I want to focus on the other end of the spectrum. This week I'm asking for your best serenity themed photographs. Any photograph conveying a sense of serenity, peacefulness, and/or relaxing calm is invited. So hit me with your sunsets, cozy creeks tucked away in peaceful forests, or anything else you interpret as serene.
Enjoy!
Rules:
- Be creative and have fun.
- You may only submit one photo per contest.
- Please do not comment on photos until after the judging has taken place.
- The contest runs for one week, starting NOW! (see time/date stamp at the start of this thread.)
- At the end of the week, The Judge (last week's Winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
- The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).
Yes, I'm sure it should have finished by now, but I was keeping quiet and putting off the awful momentDidn't this finish yesterday Alex?
Would you mind providing a link to a larger version? I totally won't disgrace it by using it as my desktop wallpaper while stressing over finals.Wow! Thanks for the honor. There were a number of really nice images in this thread.
I'll get the next one started as soon as I can think of a theme.
Thanks again!
Some lovely images this week, and thanks to @AlexH for a terrific topic and for trying to come up with winners.
Personally, I was absolutely blown away by @CE3's stunning image - had I been judging this would have been my winner, which just goes to show how subjective and personal some of these contests are. But superb image - colour, composition, context - to my mind, they are all first rate in this stunning picture.
Now, I love astronomy (though in my part of the world, clear skies are a rare blessing rather than a nightly wonder), so, @anotherscotsman's lovely night-scape also appealed to me, awesome, awe-inspiring, and wonderfully thought-provoking as to our precise place in this universe.
Others that I really liked included @MacRy's ethereal and moody shot, and the shot submitted by @Alexander.Of.Oz - though I'm not sure I'd class this particular picture as something resembling 'serenity'.
However, @lharvest's shot did convey a sense of 'serenity', and would not have been out of place on a fantasy, or scifi, book cover - say, something along the lines of 'The Mists of Avalon'.
Some really great images, beautifully composed and shot; very well done one and all.
Congrats to the winners , great shot @lharvest ! The shore of L.I Sound taken from someone's boat , or a much more mundane location?
