Thanks to everyone who contributed. Some really good shots this time around.
@kenoh
A dark moody shot With incredibly crisp detail, but will it couple with the Molly to put you atop the podium?
@Strider64
I was expecting to be comparing apples to gorillas but you threw woodpeckers into the mix. I like the controlled depth of field in this shot. Centre of focus is quite crisp once you zoom in.
@TheYayAreaLiving
I love most of your work and this shot has a lot going for it. The s-curve and that sky. However the lighting is absolutely wicked resulting in the very distracting big blob hi light.
@tizeye
I like this one but I’m not fond of the dead centre horizon line. If it were my shot I would probably crop a bit more off the top.
@someoldguy
Right on the topic I love those sort of trails.
@Allyance
Again right on topic. Fascinating tree.
@Hughmac
Another one with a nice selective depth of field. Hard to capture detail in black dogs but you did it. Worth viewing full size to see the detail around the eyes,
@AlixSPQR
Nice to see a new face contributing. Also right on topic. I can feel the solitude which is one of the reasons I enjoy hiking.
@mackmgg
Delicate Arch ranks up there as one of the ultimate cliche shots, and I love what you did with it. I recall a couple of lovely days spent in the Arches area back in the fall of 2014. Sort of circled the trailhead parking lot like a planet, but struck out twice and never did get to hike to that one. So this one strikes a special cord. Especially with that glorious milky way background.
@Fravin
Since the subject was walkabout you may be pushing the envelope, but I do like the shot and appreciate the story.
@oblomow
Again you’ve nailed the topic and you’ve done a good job of capturing the mood of a misty hike.
@mollyc
I see you’re getting the hang of Black and white film. Also see that HP5 film is as grainy as it was 25 years ago. A half frame is a tough camera to control depth of field but you accomplished just that.
@Janichsan
When I zoomed in to look at the detail I had a horizontal crop that I much preferred to the original portrait orientation. I like the minimalist effect.
@gaswerks
Love to see a few old grain elevators hanging in there. Superb depth of field.
@Snowlover
Another new face, thanks for joining in. Right on topic too.
And the winners are:
1st Place:
@mackmgg mainly because he hit a sentimental soft spot. Did someone say judging was fair??
2nd Place:
@Hughmac
3rd Place: A tie between
@Strider64, &
@kenoh
Again thanks to everyone who participated.
