Okay, comments first ...

BrettAP98 - It’s a nice pic of a water feature. The light is nice
and you even caught the coaster in the background.

Strider64 - A well-captured, well-timed duck splashing in water.
The water dripping off its beak and the water droplets on his head
add some nice water textures.

Hughmac - When I first looked at this pic, I thought the burble of water
was a melting piece of ice. The distorted view of the flowers through
the fountain water and the translucent snail shell are nice uses of light.

Susurs - I like the elongated format choice and the subdued tonalities.
The flow across the pic works well. The brighter cloud nicely echoes
the form of the ship. You even caught the marker light blinking.

stillcrazyman - There’s lots of nice texture here in the well-timed splash that
echoes the detalis of the barnacles.

mollyc - The bubbles, color and surfacing towards the light all balance well.
Swimming underwater involves both fun and danger and this pic has both.

deep diver - This is a well-timed splash and the obscured fisherman adds a bit of mystery.

crf8 - The repetition of industrial form is nice and contrasts well with the organic
reflections in the water.

Darmok N Jalad - The distorted (but still legible) sky in the background gives us
a wonderful sense of flying through the water.

akash.nu - The softer texture in the water from the timed exposure contrasts nicely
with the geometric patterns on the bridge.

Janichsan - The textural contrast between the rigid long (glass?) shapes and the
softer water flowing over them works well.

Robotti - The sheer logistics of creating this pic are amazing. It conjures a vision of
a modern “Lady of the Lake“.

needfx - We can feel the cool refreshing water on our feet.

tizeye - The reflective symmetry adds to a sense of enclosure in this cave.

Clix Pix - This is a beautiful combination of textures that we can feel. The warm color palette in
contrast with some cool tones adds a sensory component.

Somepix - We can feel the tempestuous wind and the icy water smashing into the frozen rocks in contrast
with the aspirational warmth of the cozy homes in the distance.

Laird Knox - This is a dynamic capture of water splashes at high speed with contrasting colors.

Apple fanboy - Beautiful light, a magnificent structure, a mirrored reflection all add up to a
wonderful pic.

someoldguy - The tonalities in the fountain tie in nicely with the brighter clouds.

malofx - An interesting take on an iconic scene.

Donka - This backlit pic of the "Old Faithful” geyser erupting is a powerful take on a prosaic
tourist cliché.

It was really tough picking a winner out of all the wonderful entries.
I probably made it tougher on myself and everyone entering by going with such an open-ended theme.
I finally went with Somepix's entry ...

Second Place was a giant tie between Apple fanboy, mollyc, Donka, Clix Pix and Susurs.
Everyone else that entered earns Third Place in my opinion.

The thing I most like about photography is its democratic nature of enabling anyone with a camera to share their unique point of view. It was an honor and a privilege to judge and view everyone’s entries.

Thanks everyone,
Ed

Thanks for the nice comments for everyone and the podium. We all know second place is the coveted spot!
Mine was actually a couple of photos merged as my lens wasn't wide enough! (24-70mm)

It started out with a lot of stuff I didn't want to include in my image (as anybody who has been to the Cathedral will know it isn't finished!).
So I lost the cranes and the scaffolding.

I had originally come at midday with my friends but the lighting wasn't great. So got up early fro sunrise on my last day (I was on my own, so all good).

As a PS Newbie I learnt stuff as I went along. I have another one I'm working on which is from the street side.

A little background on the cave photo. It was the sight of my daughter's wedding. Has to walk around the water pool on a narrow path that may be under water at high tide, then steps up to a larger room where the reception/dinner held. Phenomenal acoustics in the cave. Highly recommend for destination wedding and saved me a bundle vs holding in the US or Switzerland. Canary Islands are a little difficult to get to from the US as return flight usually requires and overnight stay where the connecting flight is as the flight to the US departs before you arrive.
