What a fantastic collection of images and pictures. I love film noir, and I think a great many of these images executed the brief admirably. Well done, @AlexH, this was a great contest title which attracted some superb entries. It must have been difficult to judge them.
To the three winners, @rolsskk, @MacRy, - great shots - and of course, congrats on the wonderfully apposite entry submitted by @filmbufs - it screamed Sam Spade trying to navigate a barely understood world of murky morality and dubious dilemmas.
On the post contest controversy and thoughts, I'm with the excellent posts penned by @Apple fanboy, @MacRy and @kenoh.
This is not a forum for professional photographers; it is for amateurs to have fun, exchange thoughts and tips, and learn while challenging themselves and extending their photographic boundaries.
Precisely because the whole weekly contest is a fun exercise, done in one's spare time (not least for the person judging), and is, by definition, subjective, most people strive to make this a welcoming space, and comments are always taken and given in good faith. Therefore, it is deeply disappointing - and wholly unnecessary - to see such a disputatious, and snippy tone taken by one contributor.
This was a terrific contest, and some great photos were entered. Well done all.
