I am particularly enamoured with symmetry in Nature, and find myself constantly searching for surprise in the expression of clover (trifolium, oxalis, et al.).

Since the celebration of Saint Patrick is nigh, these (and more) fill my thoughts.

Share any luck-y moment (past or present) captured in any way.

Standard rules apply.

  • Follow all relevant local laws regarding stay-at-home orders. If you can't go outside, try and take a photo at home or grab one from the archives.
  • Do not comment, vote, react or click “like” on images prior to the winners being announced.
  • The photographs must be your own work.
  • You may only submit one photo per contest.
  • This contest runs for one week. If in doubt, check the dates in the title.
  • At the end of the week, The Judge will choose a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
  • If the Judge is unable to complete the selection within 48 hours of the deadline, then last week's 2nd place has to step in. 3rd place takes over should 2nd place be similarly unable to officiate.
  • The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create a new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place) {n.b.: "gracious hosts" <smile>}
  • Be sure to update the Contest Master List as soon as you post a new theme.
  • Contest ends at 23:59 GMT on the 18th of March
Attached is one from my archive.

Good luck!

Seriously, it's a difficult subject to convey, but I will be entering a photo, probably by Wednesday as luckily that is my birthday ;)

Cheers :)

Wild Rose And Wind Belt
Not sure if this is an Irish rose, but it was a very lucky shot from 2005. Just a tiny shaft of sunlight coming through the surrounding shrubs to illuminate the heart of the rose. Then I doubled down and got a perfect exposure with the old Olympus 3.2MP camera, remarkable given the lack of user controls on that camera.

I have something now, but can't seem to upload anything to SmugMug at the moment.
Will keep on trying but if that fails I can do a direct upload to here.

No, that photo turned out to be a pile of poo ;)

Cheers :)

Entitled "In The Clover", or "I didn't know what luck was until I started having bad"...

Seriously, it's my birthday today and being a St Patrick's Day child hasn't made me particularly lucky, but luckily I got this photo taken this morning just before the rain started properly ;)

Cheers :)

Happy birthday. It's lucky for us that are a part of this group.

Did you notice that 3 images here reference alcohol. Four if you include beverage service on plaines. Five if you include the lottery - either drowning the sorrow of loss or celebrating the win. Six if we include rose liquor. We could double dip that one with rosé wine for a total of seven.
