oh. Thank you! For judging and the dreaded first place. It was a great theme, unfortunately I had to take an image from the archives, but it's nice to have an archive.
I will come up with a new theme later today.

I have an image of my kid's saxophone that is a past winner. I'm sensing a trend (or curse) here. Future entrants beware.

Yes, this is from a scroll. I shot the image a little wider but the atzei hayim were a distraction. (atzei hayim = "Trees of Life." This is the Hebrew name for the dowels used for rolling the parchment.). The DOF is partially intentional and partially thrust upon me. The parchment in the lower part of the image sits more than 1/2 inch above the table because of its natural texture.

Earlier in the thread, in response to my comment that I hadn't intended it to be hard, you said "I don't think any of us intend to make it hard. I just think that's just a measure of how this forum has developed". I didn't want to derail the thread by asking then, but can you tell me what you meant? I haven't been here for a while until recently as I had a bit of a hiatus from photography and got thrown in the deep end there. Can you say how things have changed? I haven't seen AFB or Kenoh for a bit.

Thank you for the third place! I actually looked for a Lensbaby image and had a couple to choose from but I always liked this photo. My daughter is in 9th grade now and this is from maybe 3rd grade? It’s also just a phone photo but one I’ve always loved. ?

I haven’t seen kenoh in awhile but AFB is around in the daily thread. ? I think that comment related to the quality of photographers in this group always raising the bar.
