My entry for last week brought back good music memories, and everywhere we look, there is something to trigger lyrics or memories of songs. So this weeks challenge? I am after photos that depict the title of a song. In fact, caption the photo with the song/artist you are capturing. The possibilities are endless, and only limited by the ability to see what you hear.

Examples, The Living End: Prisoner of Society, something depicting the rat race, subway crowds, lines of dejected people waiting for coffee, traffic jams
Queen: Bohemian Rhapsody, could be anything unconventional that just jumps/stands out in a crowd or setting.
Guns n Roses: Sweet Child of Mine: see @kallisti shots of kiddo.
AC-DC: Back in Black, any candid street shot of a goth

There's decades and decades of top 40's, genres upon genres, even the classical era of Bach and Beethoven.

Looking forward to seeing how you all connect the song titles to your images!

  • The photographs must be your own work.
  • Be creative and have fun.
  • You may only submit one photo per contest.
  • Please do not comment on photos until after the judging has taken place.
  • The contest runs for one week, starting NOW!
  • At the end of the week, The Judge (last week's Winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
  • The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).

Go on then, I'll get the ball rolling. American Pie by Don McLean.

Seen Better Days 9
by another scotsman, on Flickr

I'm old enough to remember American Pie being released in 1971. The song reminisces about the 'day the music died' (the death of Buddy Holly in 1959) and in many ways the end of the American age of innocence (whatever that was). To be pedantic, this vehicle is actually a mid-1940s Cadillac in a down that 'died' in the late 1940s but to me, they represent that (sometimes detrimental) change in style from the immediate post-war period into the Swinging Sixties and a sense of decline. How's that for artistic twaddle...

A suggestion: participants post their captions in spoiler tags so we can try to work out the titles ourselves.

Love the suggestion @AngerDanger though it just goes to show how interpretive things are, guessing? I've got 0 so far. How everybody else going with guessing?
I'm also 0 for 5… but I haven't actually heard of the songs mentioned. Maybe you guys just need to draw inspiration from more generic music. Like, you could have a photo of somebody who is no stranger to love. You know the rules, and so does he. A full commitment's what he's thinking of. You wouldn't get this from any other guy. He just wants to tell you how he's feeling. Gotta make you understand.

I notice no one has posted a reference to Taylor Swift or any other teenybopper crowd pleaser...

Indicative of taste? ..... Or age? :-(

It's the 22nd here in aus, whilst the rest of the world is just easing into the wee hours of the day or still in the tail end of the 21st. Have a busy day today so I will be shutting this down 24 hours from now. Some great shots with an interesting mix of song choices. Will post all my guesses when I go through critiques.

It's a hard shot to get, but I've been itching to see a shot of Donald trump captioned with a certain song title from the 90's by one Denis Leary!
