Your going to have to spend awhile reflecting on who should win!24hrs to go - great entries so far but always room for more!
Ta-da !!Your going to have to spend awhile reflecting on who should win!
At least we know the winner has a proper DSLR camera, not a mirroless!Ta-da !!
Cheers
Hugh
But mirrors are so last decadeAt least we know the winner has a proper DSLR camera, not a mirroless!
Wow I'm shocked after all those cracking entries. Thank you for the win.Right guys and galls, competition closed I'm afraid. Now for the unenviable process of choosing the winners.
[doublepost=1519933637][/doublepost]Right then, time to share my thoughts for what they're worth.
Firstly, thanks to everyone who made the effort to submit an entry - I'm always impressed by the range of takes on these themes and by the quality of the photos.
Secondly, please take my comments and relative rankings for what they are: a reflection of my personal preferences.
Given the quality of the entries I'm afraid I'm going to appear to be harsh (the disciplined Scot in me...) but I need some way to get to the podium places.
MacRy: What an atmospheric film noir photo. Given the low light levels, getting a reflection in the car door was a bit of an achievement. Love the colour tones.
mollyc: A lovely, crisp image showing the flower magnified through the drop. Technically first rate and I'd love to take a shot like this one. But...its not a reflection since the drop is a lens through which the flower is being viewed. Sorry, I did say about being harsh.
AlexanderofOz: I love the subtlety of the feather and even more so the subtlety of the reflection. A beautiful photo that I'd have on my wall any day.
Hughmac: I remember this chess set before - lovely crisp reflections that are so appropriate for the glass pieces. Nice angle on the board.
deep diver: So much to look at in this photo - the golden sax against the black background works so well - wondered where the reflections were until I saw the manuscript. very nice.
Keyrex: Nice clear reflections of the plants in the pond with simple but attractive composition. Again Mr Nasty appears when I say that this looks a bit more than a puddle to me...
AppleFanBoy: The B&W treatment really works well and I love the low-angle you used to get the studs reflected in the puddle. Gritty, industrial, nice one.
BvizioN: Boudoir-esque image with great use of the purple light to give a sort of seedy nightclub sort of look. Nice use of framing. I Like it a lot.
Clix Pix: I wondered if I'd get a Droste effect image and you came up with the goods! Nicely done given the small subject size you were dealing with.
inkmich: Just because it's a Porsche, doesn't mean that you get special treatment I Like the combination of the water drops and the tree reflection on the paint job. Nicely done both with the photo and keeping the car so clean!.
someoldguy: I had to look twice at this. Great capture of the reflections of one building in the other. Lovely clear photo which even retains a feeling of distance with the reflected building appearing almost recessed within the granite frontage. Like the fire escapes on the right. Love it.
Janichsan: A different take on building reflections from the previous one. Certainly gets across the high intensity of an Asian (Japanese?) cityscape, Nice one.
Kenoh: I like what you were trying to get with this one, just a little too-much in the way of glare for me. Must be the halo-effect of the Leica...
CmdrLaForge: Another building reflection, this time emphasising distortion. Nice simple image with great clarity. Like the composition a lot.
tcphoto1: As you've probably gathered, I don't feature people in my photos so I admire your skills here (surprised the BadGuy didn't put in an appearance). I like the way that you've used the mirror as a window into the world of the model herself- so relaxed and natural. Nice use of B&W and the angles further emphasise the seemingly casual (dare I say slightly voyeuristic?) capture.
rx7Dude: Another attempt at Porsche-based influencing. Nice how the dark glass of the door entry gives a bit of contrast against the light colour of the car.
Now to the podium:
3rd place: tcphoto1
2nd place: deep diver
1st place: AppleFanBoy
Highly worthy mentions go to AlexanderofOz and BvizioN and again thanks to everyone who posted. Over to you AFB.
I'd be interested to know your set up for this Molly. I think it's a wonderful image.Might swap this out later if I find a better subject, but pullling this from my archives.

What's two letters between friends!I honestly don’t recall. I took this years ago when I was teaching myself photography. At the time we lived in a house that had a sink in an island, so I think I was putting objects to one side of the faucet and I stood on the other and set the tap to a really slow drip. Then I used a flash for lighting (you can see some of the trails from that). And then just focused like mad to capture the drips. I seem to remember that the drips were not overly regular (nothing about that house was) so focusing was overly difficult.
I didn’t really think about this technically being refraction rather than reflection.
Thanks , It's the spectacular view from my hotel window on a trip to San Francisco to annoy relatives . I'd gotten in around 1:30AM , dropped on the bed and , upon awakening , pulled back the blinds and there it was . Taken with a 17-40 IIRC . I remember having to spend a lot of time getting all the lines straight horizontally and vertically.Congrats to the winners. My personal favourite was someoldguy's entry. Absolutely loved that one. Great job.
I think I better come up with a real obscure difficult one to limit the entries then!It really was a stinker to judge - I'd have a few on my wall any day.

Anymore of that talk and I'll make you the winner! Then you'll have to judge! Thanks @kenoh for the feedback/observations and a stellar job with the judging too! A tough one to be sure, with so many fine examples to choose from.
Looking forward to what @Apple fanboy comes up with for the next round. Hmmm, obscure... is that a hint that it will maybe involve the use of a camera obscura somehow? AFB's possibly from that sort of vintage...
