Winter in the Great Lakes region is just grey and ugly.

We generally have mild winters, lots of rain, usually highs in 40s and 50s, lows near freezing. I had a hike planned today, but it's 34F and rainy, so the mountain will have to wait another day.

Now I remember why I don’t have a winter retreat in Scotland!

Sorry for the delay, it was a busy day at work today, we recently got a new laser cutter and a massive 3D printer... first thing I asked, "how can I print my photos on wood or metal?" lol

Thank you everyone for taking the time to be part of this week's contest.

Here are the results, I am sorry in advanced for the lack of feedback, I just don't have it in me.

First place for finding this little guy while snowing, was it hard to find him?

Oh no, I won!

Actually, the cold and snowy weather brings out the birds, especially when you have a feeder nearby. I was able to take that from the comfort of my living room. A lifetime a feeding the birds, I guess. The above is a northern flicker. A little more rare of a woodpecker in my area, so I lucked out that we were both around at the same time. I’ve had some pretty rare birds show up, but they have been hard to capture. That’s more a testament to how inaccessible food had been for our feathered friends this year—the solitary ones have gone searching too.

Have no fear, I have an idea for next round. Just need a few minutes to articulate it after I get off work. I think it’s a little unique, so hopefully it doesn’t fall flat.

Getting an idea is not that hard. Managing the fallout is. Keep in mind....... Recent history has shown us that the more creative the topic is, the more "judge's remorse" there is.
