Hi there folks! Sorry for the delay but we had a huge power failure to where i live. I had no electricity and no internet access to announce the winner.

Anyway,

This weeks winner is... Ish !
Second place for Chappers and...
Third for tomnavratil

You all had beautiful pictures but the theme was very difficult. In any case i will write a few words for all the photos as soon as possible (just got home from work and will be leaving in about an hour for a 2 day trip).

Cheers!

I hope all is well with the electricity now!

Congratulations to Ish and Chappers - great pics guys and thank you for a third place .

Oh my goodness, first time I've won this. Thanks pnou.

Well done to everyone else! Great photo Chappers. Tomnavratil, I lived in Iceland for a while, and while I was a bit too far south to see the midnight sun, it's quite something to see the sun dip below the horizon for a few minutes and see the sunset and the sunrise in the sky at the same time. MacRy, I've seen that photo before and I still can't see it unless I turn it upside down!

To me there's a double paradox (or even pair o' ducks!) in my submission in that it says the smile is the prettiest thing you can wear, yet they're headless, and also it seems odd that a shop selling clothes should say that. It was taken next to our favourite place to stop for coffee in Avignon, France, despite the English on the window.

On to the next one, lemme think, lemme think … er …

Well done. It was a tough challenge this week. Good to make people think outside the box. It was a nice spot.
I'll try harder for the next one I promise.

I was only about five minutes ahead of you mate so don't worry ;)

And, I'll be honest, sad to relate, but I still don't get it.

Re the actual contest itself, this struck me as a competition that would be pretty difficult to express visually, and photographically.

However, the two sun shots (midnight sun in June in Iceland from tomnavratil and the astonishing sunset by chappers) were excellent and Ish's shot was clever, subtle and nicely observed.

Ish, I've only spent a week in Iceland but it has been truly amazing and I'm planning to go back, it's absolutely something worth seeing!

Thank you for your nice comment Scepticalscribe, agree on the contest itself, had to put a serious thought into this one, which is a good thing. Great pic by chappers and Ish too!

I know the contest is over but I couldn't resist after walking by these this morning.

I was lucky to live somewhere the weather and sky produced strange effects.

Ish - love the idea of your observation. A deserved win.
