Lots of great entry's this week guys. Could have been any number of winners. Good judging Truettray. Congrats to the winners and looking forward to the next one. If it ever stops raining I might even have some new material.

Great set of entries, having way more fun here than on many photo-specific websites.

Going off tangent here, watch out...

While I don't want to stir up a deep philosophical debate about environmental concerns, I have to say, Alexander's comment about air travel has me feeling sad. The only thing more powerful in making the world smaller and more connected is the internet. Personally, for me browsing the internet is a bit like window shopping the world. Ultimately though, after a bit of window shopping I have to take the plunge and go in and see how it really is in all these different places. I haven't travelled nearly as much as I should, and although there are downsides to all technologies, I think the benefits outweigh them in this case, hands down.

Either way, if the Oztwaylyan doesn't want to go anywhere, I'm gonna have to go to Oztwaylya. :)

Hey thanks guys.

Some great photos out there, and having such an open topic really gives you a picture into people's minds.

I'll have a new contest up tonight.

Good contest - thanks truettray- that really was an open-ended theme this week, which brought some great interpretations. Congrats to the winners - looking forward to the next one.

jkramerbob - love that photo - would make a great cover for a travel magazine!

Too many great pix in this one !

JDDavis ; Your entry would make a great poster .

A couple of notes on my entry . Taken in 2003 or thereabouts at a lodge located around 100km up the Rio Napo from Puerto Francisco de Orellana in the Ecuadorean Amazon drainage . About 4 hrs. in a big metal cargo canoe , hike through the forest and then a trip via dugout canoe across the lake .It's a black water lake which might give the impression of depth . As for treasures , only ones I saw were caiman and piranhas

Great job truettray and thanks for the great comments. Wonderful set of photos this week and congrats to GT41 and the rest.

truettray - to me the Tetons are a perfect place. It's one of those places on this planet you should see in person. That morning was about as perfect as it gets. I don't do a lot of post but that shot is one of the few shots that is virtually unchanged from out of the camera. The light and the colors were exactly like that. Almost too perfect. The irony (of photography perhaps) was that I spent countless cold hours many mornings waiting on the sunrise for the perfect light for a lot of the shots I took out there and this one I just walked out on the deck and snapped a pic.
