I am traveling this weekend and only have my iPad, so will not be able to comment on each picture. So sorry. However, the photos that have been submitted are wonderful, and I certainly don't have the skills to judge them properly.

So, I will name the following for honorable mention:
Apple Fanboy, NeedFX (for the hippy, summer shot), Nathanbl (nice summery flowers) and AlexH

3rd Place -- MacRy -- for the daisy with the black background. Nice
2nd Place -- Alexander.of.oz for the close up. Amazing shot!!
1st Place -- Robotti for the Hibiscus (?) with the Ladybug, as I said that special consideration would be given for a "summer shot" and the Ladybug and the flower do just that for me.

Thanks everybody. Many of you could have won easily. Too tough to judge.

Great competition this week. I was proud of mine until @RedOctober, @Robotti and @MacRy posted, then it was just time to pack up and go home... :-( stonking entries! knew it was game over when Robotti posted the comp killer. Very nice registering a rare 12 on the "1-10 Jealous I didn't take it" scale!

Thank you Indydenny, and thank you so much everyone for your comments. This was my first win!

I was at the local field where the city plants flowers for people to pick, and for some reason there were a lot of ladybugs that day. I was photographing them on different flowers, and through the viewfinder I saw one taking off just as I shot. Luckily I had captured it just as it was opening the wings.

I'll be back with the next competition shortly.
