lol... I am a family man... but oh my god! I will never drive another Cadillac again! I had the horror of a few V8 Northstar DeVilles (devils) as rentals when working over there and you should have a skipper license not a drivers license for those boats! :(
[doublepost=1460123833][/doublepost]

I write with a fountain pen, I wear a mechanical watch, I shoot with a rangefinder....

I refuse to comment on being a purist on the grounds it will damage my credibility at a later date.... :)

When it comes to Porsches my brother in law has me programmed to prefer air cooled...

Sigh. Slightly embarrassed cough. I think I have some understanding of your perspective on such matters…..

As it happens, I write with a fountain pen, and I shoot with a rangefinder, too. And yes, my watch would not meet the manifold needs of today's kids……….

My cookware is either French copper (Le Mauviel), French cast iron (Le Creuset), or Italian or German stainless steel (Lagostina or Fissler)….

Re the Cadillac, I like your remark, and agree with it. Skipper's licence. I'll remember that, and cite you as a foot-noted source when I am next offered an opportunity to use this expression in conversation….

Well, let one sort of purist - your humble scribe - greet and salute another, then.

I write with a fountain pen as well. We call it classic and sophisticated. It is impossible to have your credibility damaged by embracing old-school.

My teenage kids are amazed at how much more effective old-school can be vs. new-school. I do miss library card catalogs.:(
.

I was once lectured by a customer when using my pen wrong in a meeting. He took umbrage at the abuse I was throwing at the nib of my pen. I apparently draw my words using my fingers instead of scribing my words using the muscles in my shoulder and upper arm. That is apparently why I cant write on a whiteboard neatly, and why I get cramp in my hands when writing a lot and why I ruin the nibs on my pens. What on earth this had to do with automating his IT estate I have no idea but it gave us a connection. He tried to teach me to write properly...

I found that interesting. I still do it wrong mind you.

The pen itself also influences how you write; I am almost embarrassed to say that I had an epiphany when I started writing with (smaller) Mont Blancs - the ones I have simply glide across the page, easily and effortlessly.

None of my other pens - and I have been writing with fountain pens - and have experimented with quite a few brands, including some pretty good ones - since I was a teenager, ever allowed me such ease when writing.

I actually do have a skipper's ticket, which along with my HGV (truck) licence should put me in good stead. I don't have access to a Caddy though...

Sorry but I am a heathen in many other ways - I like to write with a roller ball, have an electronic watch and no rangefinder camera or lenses.

Cheers :)

OK, yes, but I meant the Leica end of the market

Cheers :)

[doublepost=1460135924][/doublepost]Correction; no they are not rangefinder lenses - the Nikkor-S is a standard Nikon F-mount, and the Helios 44-2 is an M42.
My Jupiter 8 is an M39 / L39 screw - would that fit a rangefinder camera?

Cheers :)

Doesn't make you a heathen.
I like to type on a keyboard
Don't ever wear a watch (my iPhone is my watch)

er... yes... L39 (Leica Thread Mount 39mm) but not rangefinder coupled so could be argued either way :)

ah. I am confused on the Nikkor S, thought it was a Nikon S - Nikons rangefinder.

each to their own...

My Nikkor-S is from about 1962, same glass and quality as the rangefinder version, but a more modern pre-AI model, see photo of mine below...

NetGrit0 – The road less travelled. Great image of the journey ahead. Similar to the earlier shot but I think I like the colours more on this one. I would have liked a lower perspective maybe but good nonetheless.

I hear you, I would have shot it from lower, but I was in the limo when I shot this. We were in the park, but still on our way to the wedding site.

Congrats to the winners, and great photos all around folks.

Well … I got the rangefinder(s) , the mechanical watch (es) , had a fountain pen when I was much younger but it leaked in my pocket . With my undecipherable handwriting a crayon is just as good anyway . (plus 2 MG's which could maybe help mark me as a purist , or maybe Luddite , or , most likely , deranged )
