@tizeye Nice shot of the dragonfly on what I assume is a grass. I assume that's motion blur on the wings, which is pretty neat. I usually either seem them stopped or fully in the air with a really fast shutter (and thus frozen wings)

A few days late to, uh, build suspense or something like that. Totally not because I typed half of this and then got distracted. That would never happen... And so with much delay:

1st place - @mollyc

2nd place - @iMyke

3rd place - @imac wannabe
Congratulations to everyone, well deserved.

That grass is sea oats - the long stem grass you see in the dunes along a seashore. It is a protected specie that one cannot pick as they are the component of the dunes that controls erosion. Sadly didn't have a special effect with the wings, but would have need cool. I looked at a 100% resolution and the wings are stopped and well defined, however, they appear more translucent against the sky.

what?? omg i seriously almost didn’t even enter because there are some amazing photos on this thread! thank you!

i will post a new challenge tomorrow. ❤️

You don't need the best picture to win, just the one whoever's judging happens to like the most!

Quick fact: This is actually not a wasp but a fly from the family of hover flies, wasps and bees have four wings, fly just two. Not trying to be clever, just read it recently in a book about bees which I borrowed from my little one. :)

Awesome entries from all. Love it!

That makes sense! The pattern on the back is very hornet-like, but that's definitely not a hornet! I guess it helps them not be eaten.
