Nice shot!

Where is this from?
As this is a "contest" please remove your like from the photo post and wait to comment until after judging is over. It's okay to ask where it is from, but not okay to say "nice shot" at this point. You may comment after judging is over.

Thanks. 🙂

Thanks to everyone who submitted this week.

Please recognize the following comments are from a rank amateur hack ...

@deep diver What a great photo to start the week off, a mesmerizing capture, love how it remains open-ended.

@akash.nu I am having trouble picturing how this is a clock but it definitely has a mechanical feel. My eyes naturally flow around the image. Did you try a larger DOF??

@tizeye Good looking timepiece, how did you get it glare free?

@Steven-iphone Certainly mechanical, it takes a lot of information to competently pump water.

@Allyance Honda Interceptor! (I just flashed back to it's 1982/83 debut) Nice photo in what looks like good riding conditions.

@Fishrrman Cool mechanics, nice combination of metals, belts and linkages.

@stillcrazyman Subject, composition, lighting - what its all about. I see a Grad level Dynamics exam question here ha.

@oblomow I like how this photo gives off a mood, like a diligent but solitary dedication to one's work, very nice.

@Apple_Glen_UK That unit has seen its last day in the field, nice colour treatment.

@Captain Trips Mechanical no more. The shadows are a little stark here.

@OldMacs4Me Always good to put courtesy up front, cool photo nonetheless. Seeing the Rockies on stage right has me wondering what could have been ...

@Janichsan Interesting angles in the image, good sepia toning too. What is this of?

@someoldguy Mechanics in motion, cool capture, you can really feel the speed here.

@CooperBox This looks like a complicated timepiece ... did you try different framing and focus? I'm left craving more detail.

@Fravin Wow. Simple yet entirely mechanical. Love the lighting and colours, very well done. My favourite of the week so far (oops did I ruin the ending?).

@MDNT Long distance mechanical, I like how you chose a photo that had serious exposure challenges, brave, ha.

3rd place : @deep diver
2nd place : @stillcrazyman
1st place : @Fravin

Congrats all!

Thanks for the kind comments. Would be hard to fault the judging this week, event though there were many very solid entries.

Will definitely be going back to see if I can rework this shot, perhaps earlier in the day when the lighting is more favourable.

3rd place! Life is good.

Thank you for the podium, and congrats to all. Great job judging another set of outstanding images.

I shot a series of these. It was entirely accidental. I was playing with the pendulum trying to get something else. That was an epic fail, but these were really cool.

First, congratulations to all and look forward to next week.

The glare was controlled as watch was inside a lightbox with the box material providing diffusion on shoot through. Further helped as was constant lighting rather than flash.

I was using a 'cheapo' light-box for the first time. Rather a rushed shot unfortunately.
I actually posted another photo of the same pocket watch a few years back in the 'Who's got a nice watch, traditional watches only thread, and now having reviewed that thread appears to show better overall detail of the mechanical movement. I must get to grips and spend more time with the light-box......
