Great photos this week! The contest is officially closed (though you might be able to sneak in a photo before I post the winners tomorrow). Well done, everyone!

There are so many superb shots this week that I don't know where to begin. I should've selected a niche theme to make my job easier! Everyone who submitted a photo deserves a pat on the back, there wasn't a bad photo in the group. But, winners must be chosen, so let's get to it:

3rd Place: someoldguy
2nd Place: imac wannabe
1st Place: jkramerbob

Well done, jkramerbob. I appreciate your composition. The road naturally guides my eyes through the photograph, and the color surrounding the road is beautiful. The fog adds a lovely autumn atmosphere to the scene. I'd like to take a relaxing drive down that road and see what the path has to offer.

deep diver - lovely symmetry, in fact, I wouldn't expect it in such a shot. Well done.

HantaYo - This shot was in the running, actually. It's well done. I like the color and lines, as well as the reflection in the water.

hakuryuu - Truly minimalistic in your use of autumn color. Well done!

kenoh - I'm glad you were able to participate this week, even with your library locked away! I like where you were going with this shot, very simple, minimalistic autumn leaf. I take quite a few shots like this myself.

imac wannabe - I like the parallel lines running through this shot, and the color. I knew this shot was in the top 3, figuring out where was the difficult part.

tcphoto - I like the composition, but the photo looks a bit bright to my eyes. I wonder, was it taken midday?

thebro20 - I like the shot, bro (I'm assuming you don't me calling you bro ;) ), but I feel like it would've been a winner if the leaves had a week or two longer to cook.

tgara - This reminds me of one of my favorite spots in my hometown. I love it. I would've liked a lower perspective, perhaps. I really want to see more of the man in the image, to see his story being told in the scene. He feels little isolated to me.

Bradrottie - Tasty shot, Brad.

JDDavis - I like the colors a lot, though I feel like the bokeh distracts me from the subject. But, what lovely bokeh it is!

lobsterplant - Is this shot from a church?

Nathanbl - I like the minimalistic feel to the shot, but the sky is purple! Was it sunset?

Apple Fanboy - This shot grew on me. You used the trees as framing devices, and it works. Nicely done.

Policar - Last year still works! I like the color, but my eyes can't really find a subject or story.

scoller1 - I like what you were trying to do here. I don't often say this, but perhaps more saturation would be nice in this instance?

anotherscotsman - This photograph almost made it into the top 3. There are so many beautiful elements in it, but the most important to me is that it makes me want to be there.

someoldguy - Much like anotherscotsman's photograph, I want to experience this shot first hand. Well done!

fcortese - Great color!

rx7dude - Dude, great shot! I'd like to see what's around the bend!

Miltz - A lovely sense of atmosphere and composition. The leading lines help guide me through the story of the image. Well done.

uvafan1 - Beautiful, serene place, and well photographed.

Hughmac - Lovely garden! I'd like to sit a while and enjoy nature.

Chappers - It was a busy week for judging! Those colors work for me. I like it.

r.harris1 - I really like this shot. It grows on me the more I study it. I think it would've been in the top 3 if it had been taken near sunset.

britincan - Excellent subject isolation and color.

zaphodtheprez - I like this shot, I feel like it's telling a story. Also, that's some funky bokeh! Was it done in post or was the shot taken with something like a CCTV lens?

Elbert C - Very cold shot, feels like the last breaths of autumn are being taken.

And that concludes this week's contest. Well done everyone! It's all yours, jkramerbob!

Well done to the winners. And good job on the critique Alex. I certainly didn't envy your job this week. So many stunning locations and wonderful photos.
In fact, well done everyone. Looking forward to the next.

Thanks Alex

Alex, thank-you and glad you liked the photo. Well done on the individual reviews! MANY good photos this week. The only thing that was difficult about this photo was getting up early in the morning. Shot jpg with a point & shoot. Edited on iPad (Snapseed>Instagram).

I will have the next contest up today.

Loved the pictures this week, some of them were stunning, but yours really captured a sort of concept of 'autumn', as described in the poem 'Ode to Autumn' by John Keats when he wrote that it is 'the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness'.

Alex ...Many thanks for thanking the time to judge and comment on each entry . Thanks , too for the 3rd! Now , go take an aspirin , your heads' gotta hurt after judging all there entries . Now it's jkramerbob's problem.

A beautiful set of photos this week so a well done to everyone. I agree with the first place too. jkramerbob's photo is outstanding.:)

Thanks Alex. Yes I was trying for a very simple contrast between the green and yellow.

Great entries this week everyone. The winning entry was well deserved.
