Sorry for the delay. Been busy looking after Mrs AFB still. Plus I needed to do this on my Mac as I find only the big screen works for evaluating photos.

Please feel free to ignore my unqualified ramblings!

@akash.nu

Being out and about in nature is the reason I started photography. My feedback on the photo would be to think about the composition a little and take a step to the right to lose the bench. As right now its sort of half in/half out!

@keyrex

Was fairly sure we would see a passion flower, although I thought it would be from Molly! However this is a lovely example beautifully lit.

@tizeye

Must be difficult shooting film whilst cycling :D I like the motion blur and the shadow. I’m guessing it was a go pro?

@deep diver

Who knew there were so many cyclists amongst us!. That maybe the cleanest gear wheel I’ve ever seen! From a photo point of view I’d like to see a bit of motion blur in the wheel to show movement.

@inkmich

What a strange football :p Like the composition and I think it works for the theme if basketball is your passion.

@kenoh

So your passion is wellies? Explains a lot! Love the shot. Could be an advert for Thomas Heaton’s channel on YouTube! You have some stunning landscapes up there. Wish I could get out a bit more to enjoy them.

@Strider64

A very classy set up there! Podcasting is a bit of a mystery to me but looks like you have a great set up! Bonus point for the i1 Display Pro!

@oblomow

Children and camping must give you lots of opportunities for great photo shoots as well as some family shots to cherish. But mountains? Surly not in the Netherlands!

@Alexander.Of.Oz

So your passionate about breaking and entry? I suppose if you put a load of convicts down under what do you expect ;) Anyway I think this is a fun series you have been doing of late. I love the symmetry of this shot. It could do with a little more light in there somehow. Maybe a flash gun might do it?

@Darmok N Jalad

Trees and weather can both make excellent compositions. And the same tree can offer so many different looks throughout the seasons. Really interesting lighting going on here.

@Donka

Capturing that special moment can save a memory forever. I wish I had more images of my daughter. I do find the lens flare a little distracting in this image though as I don’t think it really needs it. But it captures a wonderful moment in time.

@Clix Pix

I struggle with the patience and creative thinking for these type of shots, which is a shame as I’m often housebound due to weather and home life. I love the passion that you have for photography as a craft that comes through a lot of your writings. Thank you for a behind the scenes shot. I can imagine cleaning all that dust was a nightmare. I use my rocket blower just before I take the shot. Helps a bit.

@Laird Knox

Your passion is trashing cameras and lenses at the whicker man festival each year? Anyway I’m glad you make the effort as it gives us some unusual and wonderful photos.

@cogi0490

Another biker! Love this action shot and who cares that its a photcamera? It doesn’t distract from the shot!

@truettray

A nice artsy shot of the inner workings of a Piano. I’m confused as to what the red cloth is in there, but it does make for a nice contrasting colour which helps the composition.

@AlexH

Whatever ones religious beliefs, churches and temples can make wonderful images. I love the light on the cross and the monochrome treatment. The backlit clouds finish the image of nicely.

@mollyc

Not sure if you’ve changed out your two real passions of flowers and your children to try and panda to a Nikon guy! Anyway I love the treatment you’ve given this shot. Presumably you shifted focus on a longish exposure? Anyway nicely done!

Hard to choose a winner with so many beautiful images. I’ve tried to judge it on the photo rather than the passion!

3rd Place goes to @cogi0490 and @Strider64

2nd to @kenoh and @Laird Knox

1st to @Donka for capturing a beautiful moment and sentiment.

You do know that I have like $8,000 worth of Nikon gear, right? And this was just a lensbaby, probably normal SS. Congrats to the winners!

This image validates my 1st rule of cycling:

You are always pedaling up hill and into the wind..... . .. ...... Even when you turn around.

All riders know this is true.

I hate hills.
Now that the contest is over I can comment. :)

I remember a ride once where I couldn’t believe how good I was feeling and how effortless it was. Went farther than ever before. Then I turned around to go back and realized I had been riding with a strong tailwind the whole time! The ride home was brutal. A few times the gusts were strong enough to stop me completely. Lesson learned!

The bike was only a year old when I took this, and I had just finished cleaning it. While this was Photoshopped, there would not have been any movement of the cassette if I were coasting.

See my next comment.

Been there. Done that.
My dream ride is coasting downhill in an M. C. Escher drawing.... ... With the wind at my back, of course.

Thanks for the feedback, this was just a random shot taken by a friend, I wasn’t even aware of him taking the picture until I saw it. I just thought it went well with the theme.

When I first saw Donka's image, I said, "oh, wow, this one is a winner in so, so many ways!!" It tells a lovely and heartwarming story, it is beautifully executed, and definitely arouses emotions in viewers, whether or not they are parents or grandparents themselves....this image in essence captures the human experience. Absolutely lovely and certainly more than worthy of deserving of first place!! Congratulations, Donka! And congratulations to you second-and third-place winners as well -- IMHO this was a challenging exercise as it required us to do a little introspective thinking about our own passions and then how to best convey them....

AFB: That is a great idea about using my Rocket blower the next time I'm setting up a scene with an acrylic base or background -- I did indeed carefully wipe off the base surface upon which the subject stood prior to actually shooting the image, but even so there were still a lot of dust motes showing up when I looked at the image as I was preparing to post-process. Maybe the rocket blower would be more effective..... I use it for blowing dust off the camera sensor prior to shooting, so why not try it on elements in a scene I am about to shoot?! Thanks for that tip.....

Actually, not a go pro. Just checked the EFIX data, and was an old photo from 2011. Camera was a Nikon D90.

Here is the day ride setup on my old steel bike that
can put a rack on. That was a nice ride as put wife and her sister on ship for 3 day cruise to Bahamas, and I hit the Everglades and Key West before I had to pick them back up. That was a nice trip with several 30 to 60 mile rides.

I hope that Mrs AFB is better & good on you for looking after her.

Thanks for the great theme & excellent job of judging.

Congrat's to @Donka for a well deserved win & thanks to @deep diver & cohorts for not flashing any lycra!

Hey, hey, I live in the only state here settled completely by free people, no convicts came here, apart from the current ones... Trespass is a much nicer way of putting it, break & enter makes it seem like I'm looting the place! I have a strong ethic of doing no damage & taking nothing when I visit places. Actually, I have been known to secure places that were otherwise open for access...

I did take some bracketed exposures of this POV, but actually preferred it with a darker look to it, as it is quite gloomy in there & has a dark history, including several deaths, one of which is a complete mystery & still remains unsolved to this day...

Thank you for the positive comments. You know when the time is right, you are welcome up here. I agree we are spoiled for stunning landscapes up here.

Worthy winner @Donka, great image as for everyone too. Some good interpretations here.

Genuinely surprised to have scooped first place in this one - the entries each week are always strong and imaginative - and thanks to all for such nice comments.
Many thanks to AFB for the contest and excellent feedback. I'll have a quick think on a subject for this week's contest and get back later today.

Basketball is definitely one of my passions. Just went through arthroscopic surgery on my left knee last month with the idea of getting my late middle-aged self back on the court in the next month or two. My family shakes their head at such 'foolishness' but they obviously just don't understand. Don't get me started on the beauty I see in the game. :)

My only experience of basketball was when I was around 11 or 12 and started secondary school. I was short and fat.
Forget defence. I could stand under a hoop all day and not score one!

Well truth be told, no one has ever said I was ever any good but I still love getting out there running and jumping and trying to improve. I figure that's got to be some kind of passion right. Or foolishness. I forget sometimes.

My game was football (or soccer to you guys). I was never any good at that either, but in my youth I’d try my hardest. These days I just watch it.
