I used tungsten setting for the white balance. That made it blue

Very cool, thanks for the clarification. I am new to digital photography and still learning a bit how the tools are used to adjust the images and for what purpose.

I downloaded Lightroom 4 and I've been playing with that. I am not sure how all the settings work but I plan to do a bit of reading or possibly take a class.

I've not long had LR5 and find the tutorials on Adobe's site are a good place to start. You tube is another source of information.

I think you could have helped your shot if it was a clean picture without all the lines and shadows all over it and also having it so that the section around the word 'letters' was the only in-focus part. In yours, as it is, the whole page of script is in focus and the lines distract and confuse the eye.

AlexH posted something a while ago that accomplished this really well. See if you can find that and see what I'm talking about.
