Congratulation @mollyc and the others. @deep diver, an excellent challenge that made us think. In my brainstorming, my other choice was a yellow Corvette that crashed though the Post Office window for a new interpretation of special delivery, but think I have posted it here or POTD before. Then a few hours ago when lamenting that noone paid for 2nd place, as a joke almost posted a stock photo of wallet stuffed with cash and add the caption "What's that still doing there?" :) Just FYI, the dinosaur was not animated but an artistic sculpture as part of an event at a local botanical garden where many varieties were located throughout the garden. It made a nice setting for them. Although, the gardens being a popular wedding venue, can just imagine those wedding photos. The have similar events throughout the year with strategic placement of sculptures, including metal frogs, wood/bamboo insects, and fairy villages.

What??? I am so surprised! I pulled that out of the archives at the 9th hour! (not quite the 11th!)

Now we all have to describe the photo if it was not immediately evident.

My husband and I built the house we currently live in. We tore down the previous house. Before we tore it down, we "donated" it to the local fire department to do a controlled burn as a training exercise for new firefighters. This was the morning of the burn, when they were setting up pallets and hay as kindling for the fire.

Here are two photos from later in the day when it was actually on fire.

Thank you so much, @deep diver!!! I will think about a new challenge tonight and be back tomorrow!

I remember your posting another picture a couple of years ago.

I remember seeing the Corvette as well.

Clix Pix: I would not have known this fit the theme without your comment. I love the way the glass both stands out from and blends in with the sky, and the way that it swirls the clouds. I would like to see this as a study in form and color rather than a landscape by cropping out the trees and cloning out the label.

That strand of clear glass bulbs was definitely not supposed to be hanging in front of my deck -- it had apparently been partly blown off the railing of my neighbor's deck above me and was dangling there in front of my surprised eyes.... My first thought was, yes, "what is THAT doing there?!" Unfortunately right now he is not at home and so isn't able to retrieve it and I have no access to his deck to put it back up there for him. It'll keep swinging and swaying in front of me until he does get home!

My initial shot (the one in this competition) was with the iPhone 11 Pro and the wind was blowing the thing around quite fiercely. I left the elements in the image in order to provide some sense of out-of-place context. Most of the time these strands of bulbs are fastened to railings, door frames, whatever, and are not just dangling in mid-air. Later the same day I decided to explore the reflective possibilities more and this time went out on the deck armed with a thick book upon which to stand (to get me to the right height to get the reflections I wanted) and my RX10 M4, and during that session I came up with this (which is also in the POTD thread):

Colorful Reflection.jpeg

The colors you see here are the trees across the lake and of course the blue sky. This time I managed to capture the thing at just the right angle as a gust of wind sent it swinging by me so that I didn't have to worry about cropping out that label and the electrical wall plug....... Obviously of the two images this one is the more interesting and artistic, but since there was no visible context it would have suited the theme of this competition even less than the submitted image did.

In a coffee shop.
Excellent and thoughtful judging @deep diver, - in a challenging competition - the theme is not as easy to visually express as it may have seemed - and congrats @mollyc on your gold medal this week; very well deserved, and a wonderful story behind it; fantastic idea to "donate" your house as a training exercise for new fire-fighters..

I was also very taken by the image submitted by @r.harris1 - a really terrific shot.

Nice one @mollyc
Amazed at the controlled fire extinguishing. Wish we were so advanced here in Greece.

@deep diver , we are no longer cyberfriends, your judgemental judgement triggers me in more ways than you can fathom. I haven’t slept in two days since I read it this morning and you should check your privilege #nofaithinhumansanymore #I2, #cyberbully
