Tomorrow or even the next day will be fine. Just go and get a nice bunch of flowers and some grapes for your wife and give her our best. Knee surgery is no fun.She is in surgery
just sent back to surgery so had to leave. Tried laptop and the hospitals free WiFi blocks exit to link my VPN. GRRRR! Battery at 51% on iPhone and no chargers in waiting area so should conserve in case they want to call me.
Don't stress yourself. Your wife's surgery takes precedence over the competition. We can wait.She is in surgery

There is not really a delay. This is the last day to submit. I was just going to get a head start while waiting, but the louse free WiFi was not secure and Safari wouldn’t let me connect. Didn’t want to use phone and cellular but just found a charging station. Surgery went well. Knee shot but no complications with replacement fitting well. Will have a lot of free time this evening to review and report in AM.I wanted to use some new images but I didn't get them processed last night. So...
I'll let you decide which is which.
[doublepost=1537895993][/doublepost]Oh just read the notes about the delay. Well if I'm too late that's OK.
Hope everything is going as good as can be.

Well done everyone. Great set of images. Thanks for the feedback despite other things to be getting on with!RESULTS...
Lot of great entries and definitely made it difficult for me, but time to pick the winner (er, ah..victim). Below is my impression in order posted which together with $1.75 you can buy a cup of coffee at Starbucks. This is followed by...
drum roll please....
The top 4
@ Alexander.of.Oz
Never thought that Before and After could be done in one photo, but you certainly succeeded, having both the shell and the dragonfly 90% out. Excellent catch.
@deep diver
Interesting demonstrating an older worn thermometer which the post processing really accentuates. Notice how have the slight hint of rust in the before then the heavy sharpening really makes that rust stand out, giving it character. However overall, the sharpening is too harsh on bricks and aluminum. Could probably be a lot stronger if masking the thermometer and possibly the wood for aggressive sharpening and lesser on the remainder.
@Donka
I like that. The Death Star hiding in the moon. Very creative adaption of a standard moon picture. Of course it begs the question…with the Death Star will you be conscious of the after.
@MacDevil7334
Really able to pull a lot of dynamic range out of that underexposure. Astro photography is difficult as the long, 13 sec exposure brings diffraction in. What is really interesting is 14mm f1.8 (Sigma Art?) for 13 seconds on a full frame camera. Could be a little stronger if getting correct in camera. Take multiple exposures, choosing the one that has less reliance on the dynamic range and shoot both landscape and portrait to avoid a radical crop which reduces the megapixels.
@Strider64
Interesting captions presenting a story line. Now you have me wondering what the birds are really saying on my bird feeder. Probably something like “Quick, before the squirrels arrive.” Yes, you do have a lot of leeway cropping with the A7RIII
@Darmonk N Jalad
Very nice development of the swan. With the classic full body in the original, it show how much more is displayed when cropping in for less. The action of the dripping water and the impact of the water on the feathers becomes far more pronounced. Also, lightening the shadows brought out more detail.
@Clix Pix
Living in Florida, I have seen that scene repeated multiple times. Worse, people tale more than what they need, creating the shortage. Worst was in Costco where was lady with not 2 packages, but the giant boxed the packages of toilet paper comes in. I am thinking, lady, how big a problem do you have, and water to flush will be cut off anyway.
@ Janichsan
Nice sequence showing the bloom to the actual fruit. Looks like you had better luck than I, where I would get the blooms but would never germinate and develop into fruit.
@ Apple fanboy
Interesting that you were not feeling inspired when it was actually your contest in Feb 2015 with the same theme inspired or supported my decision to use “Before and After.” Nice development of a starbust in Photoshop.
@mollyc
With architecture/real estate being an area that I particularly like as illustrated by my firct into mirrored wall example at the start of this thread, I like what you have done here. First, not HDR! Nice one point composition, straightened the verticals and adjusted tone and shadows to bring out the detail with good color balance.
@malofx
Interesting adaption of a beach scene. And I thought all we had to worry about were sharks and jellyfish. Can see it really playing out at an “….Con” where attendees wearing their own themed costumes would probably purchase as it is unique while being theme specific.
@erayser
You put a lot of work into that. As I am use to seeing the opposite, took me a while to realize you didn’t just drop Walt Disney into the “present” color version. Rather, you actually colorized the “Past” B&W using the “present” as a reference for the sky, building and wall. Worse, couldn’t be a straight layer adjustment like I did with the mirrored wall, but color applied to items not in the present such as the train, Walt Disney, and the posters. Very well done.
@akash.nu
Not certain what you were trying to accomplish in the after. Obviousl lightening and bringing out the detail which you did, but the color balance was shifted so far green. Not certain if you intended that as an artistic effect or what.
@Laird Knox
I like that. Shifting from the almost sepia monotone evenness to a film effect with grain and vinetting. It really supports the Godzilla theme.
It was a difficult decision and congratulations to all. The top 4 are:
1st: Laird Knox - just too much detail in the transition to ignore
And a collective sigh of relief...
2nd: Alexander.of.Oz
3rd: Donka
4th: Mollyc

This was a bit of a two-for-one effort really, with the nymph exoskeleton being abandoned & the Dragonfly a few hours later all appearing in this photo-merge.@ Alexander.of.Oz

That was the easy part. I simply used a time machine to go back in time and take the photo. Even though it was before it was after to me since the before timeline was after the after timeline the shot was therefore before the after after all.I’m also interested to know how @Laird Knox cloned out Godzilla in his after shot
Wait Timemachine does that? They are clever at !Wow, thanks! And thank you for taking the time to critique the entries.
It is funny you say that because the original IS shot on film (4x5" Ilford HP5 Plus) and the final image is obviously digitally produced. For the final image I really wanted that 50s B movie look. The area around the dam took the most work because of the light flares on the lights.
I took the image one step further and added some cheesy movie poster graphics and used it as the sign for my gallery. This picture is a bit dark (back light off) but the image is printed on a transparency and lit from behind in a shadow box frame. There is a piece of velum behind the transparency to help diffuse the LEDs.

Time machines don't exist yet. I got mine second hand in 1972.Wait Timemachine does that? They are clever at !
I can't wait for the upgraded Tardis model. I hope with the newer technology they are more compact. After all, phone booths went out with the advent of the iPhone.Time machines don't exist yet. I got mine second hand in 1972.
