Thank you very much for all the great images. You created a hard time for me by uploading this high quality of images. I thought that I would have make my life a bit easier by not allowing reflections via water, but you taught me better.
Since I only was one time a judge before in this nice community some years ago. I did my best but I am no expert at all and these are only some personal views.

@tizeye

Great job. I am completely lost how the room/door in the wall looks in general, but it shows to me simply the magic of reflections. I am feeling good vibes when I look into the reflected garden with a river/pond.

Congratulations to all of you and thank you all for your contribution to inspire me with new ideas!
First, congratulations to everyone. It was a great topic and well done.

Ah, the problem with just one photo. I expanded the reflection topic to "unwanted reflection" showing the problem photo needing to remove the reflection. In this case, the reflection of two umbrellas used for lighting the room. Technically, you expose for the exterior view but have to raise the interior lighting or would have a dark room, which raises the reflection issue on reflective surfaces - windows, pictures, TV, kitchen appalances, etc. While this paint was rather neutral and probably could have used bounced light, many richer color walls reflect the color giving a color hue to the room where known white items - ceilings, doors, baseboards and furniture - may appear light blue or pink.

Below are the 2 end results given to the Realtor. If had been a full pocket door would have just given the one as the open door eliminated the reflection. With the door closed, two separate photos with the lights moved giving reflections on different areas of the door, then in post, layer the two images with the best lighting overall on top then "paint in black" to hide the bad area on the top layer and show the better non-reflected area on the lower layer.

Fun topic and some excellent images this time. Good job of judging as well. Congrats all the way around. On a personal note I had a lot of potential candidates, but I really do like that rainbow shot.

Thx for 1st place, enjoyed this competition as it elected different imagery. I’ll get next one up tomorrow Monday 9/12.

Sometimes things just happen.
2003, I was doing some home DIY with white pvc pipe, bought a 8 foot piece and cut it to size in my shop, brought it to kitchen . This was the smaller piece, my then 1 year old daughter was playing with it. I looked at her thru it for fun and was mesmerized by the internal reflections.
Had a basic Nikon digital camera, took two and stored them.

This image is old school, zero post processing.

Here’s that image info

Also took this one, I liked the “eyes” one for this contest.

Btw, she’s now 20 and a 3rd year college student at MTU, going to be an environmental engineer!
I’ll let her know she “won” a photo contest, we FaceTime every Sunday night.
My middle son is a freshman at MTU, mechanical engineering, here’s us helping him dorm move in 4 weeks ago.

@Strider64

Nice picture of your (?) eye! Good captured reflection into your garden and it is not entirely clear with which tool you did it since I cannot see a big camera or a smartphone in the reflection. So you did a great job because I cannot look behind the scenes on how you took the shot.

@mtbdudex

My wife and I are thinking about the tool you used for this reflection since nearly one week. Great job and great image. The observers eyes are directly forced to look into the happy eyes of the child and I love the dark background around it as a contrast to the happy eyes.

@cthompson94

Gym pictures are so important for the motivation. :) You did a great job to capture this moment of being exhausted during 2 sets. The dark surrounding and the t-shirt are doing their job to create a "dangerous" area. And I don't mean it negative! Personally, I would have tried to make the reflection in the mirror a bit brighter.

@mollyc

In contrast to the gym picture before it is such a lovely image. I can directly feel the good vibes and would love to go into that shop - whatever it is... :D
I am not entirely sure where the focus point is or if you even planed to have one sharp point, but I just love the vibe.

@tizeye

@oblomow

Cool looking statue and with the "roundings" I see you two times in the reflections. I am not sure what it should display, but I have an imagination of what it could be. :) Due to the different reflections, there are so many details and I could look at this image for a long time while I constantly see some new things. Great!

@TheYayAreaLiving 🎗

You framed the city and this cool looking building in a nice way. Since I am from Germany, I do not know which city this is but I love skyscrapers. If I am not completely mistaken, I see some very weak reflections but I am unable to tell what the reflections are showing.

@Jumpthesnark

Awesome retro-image. It gives me some kind of motivation to work on your goals and looking forward despite setbacks (the broken mirror). I guess this is lots of interpretation but therefore we all love images :)

@Snowlover

Reflections and the magic behind it is shown each day in our routines. You captured this moment in a good way. I am thinking what the "red reflection" is since thursday, but I have only the conclusion, that it might be some curtains. And this reflection is splitting the focus of the image in two different parts. I like it!

@dmb8021
Reflections of mirrored buildings are one of my main "attractions" when I am in citys that have it. It always fascinates me and you did an awesome job also with the composition of the image. Nice leading lines to an even more fascinating architecture in the back.

@Clix Pix
Again I am facing an image where I have no clue at what I am looking. And this engages me to think about it even more. But I have no conclusion at all. So please enlighten me :) I have the slight impression that it could something from an older car (or an oldtimer) but on the other side, this thinking of me makes no sense. Good captured shot where you have to think about what your eyey are seeing!

@CooperBox

There are so many details in your shot that I discover! And probably even more that I did not see yet. Focus point is very clear for me (& very good since I just love the interior of Mercedes cars). Well done!

@OldMacs4Me

To be honest, at first I just looked at the picture without reading your comment. Great job, I really did not see that it the reflection was done in post processing. If my brain woud have directly started to think about it, it should have been a conclusion, but I was just concentrated of the two rainbows with that nice geometry. So, great job!

To sum it up: there are too less spots on the podium.

Anyways, these are my favourite images that I have to pick for the sake of this contest:

Third place goes to: @Jumpthesnark

Second place goes to: @mollyc

First place goes to @mtbdudex

Congratulations to all of you and thank you all for your contribution to inspire me with new ideas!
Yes, the red is curtains blocking out the sun blasting on the window across the room. The oatmeal is on the kitchen counter in front of the microwave.
Thanks for the kind words. :)

Since I am from Germany, I do not know which city this is …
I'm from Germany, too, and still recognise the Transamerica Pyramid… 😛 Never watched The Streets of San Francisco with Karl Malden and Michael Douglas?

Congratulations to mtbdudex and his podium mates! This was an interesting topic and fun to see the interpretations.

My image is showing the reflections in the shiny stainless-steel top of my kitchen sink faucet, as there is a window just above the sink. I did a similar shot a year or two ago, and wanted to try it again with a slightly different approach. This was one of three shots I did this past week experimenting with reflections, and the other two have made their appearance in the POTD thread. Of the three, I chose this one to enter in the competition because of the air of mystery along with the reflection dominating the scene but at the same time being a small part of it.
