Lots of great entries as usual guys. Lots of interesting variations on the theme. Congrats to the winners.
Thanks for taking the time on the critique as well.

Thank you Justin for the huge and thoughtful effort judging contest this week. :)

Great shots all around and congrats to Alexander for his much deserved win.

The veins of the leaves certainly speak of texture, and that bit of gloss sure helps too. Did you desaturate the image in post processing or was it "like that" out of camera? I only ask because I'm not sure if the colors make it more or less inviting to touch.

I took that pic around 4am in the morning with my cell phone. Picture came our washed out because of flash. I had to use filters to change the color. :)

Well done Alex on a great photo and to everyone, winners all! That was a good theme, Socks. I agree with your comments about the door photo. I've shot that from the front before, but couldn't resist a side shot to emphasise the varied texture! Unfortunately, there's almost no space to shoot from that angle so it wasn't quite what I wanted.

Look forward to the next theme Alex!

I would hang this one on the wall in my kitchen. I love to cook and I love avocados (probably makes something with them at least once a week in the summer). Now on to texture - Smooth and bumpy. I've touched enough avocados to know what they feel like, this one looks like it's healthy, robust and delicious. Even if I had never touched an avocado before, I would know what one felt like by looking at this photo. Great job.

Oh, wow! That was unexpected. Thanks DirtySocks for the fantastic job with the commenting on everyones images and the $50 is in the mail. ;)

Well done to all who entered, another week with great variety and some really cool eye-candy too!

This last week has become a journey of re-discovery for me, of the beauty and form of the mundane and simple. Thanks in part to this contest and also to that sicko with the peg-bag fetish! :p

I'll have a quick think and post next weeks contest as soon as I can.

an amazing collection of textures!

I will bookmark this thread for when I need materials for 3d renderings in the future. I will ask your permission and/or fee for use of course!

Congrats to Wieners, eer, Winners, amazing pics, and of course Mr Socks for the extensively comprehensive, all encompassing feedback!

I was too chicken to get the camera closer to the water. I was already half way in and the camera was like 5 inches from the water. Scary stuff I'm telling ya

Many nice photos

Quite a bit to pick from this week and well done on the critiques DirtySocks. I really liked the avocado image as well but quite glad I was not required to choose!

Sorry for the delay in thanking you for feedback. I agree now you say it that it does need context on my stone wall entry

Been quiet as my account seemed to have been locked out for some reason. Anyone else get that this week?

My macrumors account was locked out yesterday and the day before, not sure why.

I assume this is a photo of a painting or some other similar form of visual art? It has texture, and I really like that, but perhaps you could have even emphasized the texture by shooting from an angle (I know that isn't always possible in a gallery setting). This would have made the shot your own. Right now I just think too much of belongs to whoever painted the painting.

The sad part is, I have two photos of what exactly you describe to have been better suited for this challenge. I posted them in the daily thread the day after posting for this contest. Lol

You live and learn! I'll be more judicial during my next contest entry.
