Thanks to all that joined the contest this week. A reminder I'm just a hack expressing my personal opinion ...

@deep diver - the bottle shelf leaves me with a busy feeling but then the people portray a sense of isolation. cool juxtaposition

@triptolemus - great silhouette, love the way the water ripples affect the reflected portions and the different angles in the pier supports

@akash.nu - you did well with the camera settings not blowing out the sun too badly, nice romantic theme

@redshifted - quite a bold silhouette, I'm glad you told me what it was as I would never have guessed :)

@anotherscotsman - I like how you created a sense of layering through the image, very nice

@stillcrazyman - fantastic photo, excellent job capturing the sun effects, the longer I look the more I see and like

@Nathan King - wow. love the deep silhouette of the people on the bench contrasting the light to dark gradient between ceiling and floor, kapow!

@tizeye - I like the sharpness of the water and the goofy-looking knee bend of the subject bird, ha

@mollyc - great capture, love how the details in the sky and building are retained against the silhouette of the people on the walkway

@AllergyDoc - cool photo, nice balance acheiving the statue siilhouettes whithout missing other details

@Janichsan - very thoughtful framing, I like how you kept everything off center, unaligned

@CE3 - ha, quite the appropriate expression, good shot

@Indydenny - nice take

@oblomow - great silhouette, makes me wonder where that lad is headed

@Elbert C - stunning photo, my eyes just linger as there is so much to take in, the sky, the sun dog, the boat frame, even the foreground grass

@Hughmac - love the heavy processing, very abstract, nice!

@Donka - fantastic, love how the sun lights up the left foreground and the exposure in the cloudy sky, top notch

@Apple fanboy - great shot, it's as if the subject is floating and I like the radial effect of the sunlight and the linear foreground

Tough, tough choice this week!

3rd place - @stillcrazyman
2nd place - @Donka
1st place - @Nathan King

Congrats!

Great judging and good work everyone.

Mine was one of the statues from Crosby beach.

Wow, I'm surprised given all of the strong entries! I'll have to pull that negative out and have another go at printing it larger than 4x6. That was a very interesting challenge, so the pressure is on to come up with something equally creative.

Great entries, judging and topic. Congratulations to all.

On mine, attended a conference at a beachfront hotel. Went out for a sunrise shoot and other than the obvious wide shots was attracted to to the narrow frame of the bird searching for breakfast. Here is the color version, and why water was so crisp in B&W. From that shadow, you know the sun was low, just clearing the horizon.

In a coffee shop.
Great competition, and excellent judging @gaswerks; loved the topic.

Personally, - as I love art galleries, and adore the Flemish period - I must say that I thought @Nathan King's shot superb. It is the kind of shot I have dreamed about taking, myself, when visiting art galleries.

I was also taken by @deep diver's atmospheric bar, @akash.nu's tasteful lovers, and the beautifully composed and arresting pictures submitted by @Apple fanboy and @mollyc.

And, @tizeye's shot was stunning, while @Hughmac's image of chess pieces was superb.
