iPhone 11 Pro Weekly Reminder Notifications (flaw?)

Hey all!

I've setup weekly reminders on my iPhone and they work well, BUT what I'm bothered by is the red bubble and its presence in notification centre. I get it, it just notified me of something, so the notification shows up - but the reminder is happening every week. I have to edit the reminder to "start" again next week to remove its notification status. If I have to edit it every time, then I might as well just set a normal (non-weekly) notification. Am I missing something?

Unless I've misunderstood you - wouldn't marking it as complete in the Reminders app remove that bubble? I have a weekly reminder too and once I mark it as done the red notification bubble disappears?
