I agree, it's the taking part that matters, and the stretching of your skills that helps improvement (hopefully in my case !).

You can't really differentiate between amateurs and pros, because there are some gifted hobbyists that upload here (that includes you two ↑↑ by the way).

I also think you should try and take a fresh photo for each competition rather than use archive stuff, but then again I broke that rule myself a couple of months ago when inspiration failed me :(

Cheers :)

I'm honored! Thank you! Sorry it took so long for me to notice the contest had closed and the judging had been completed, it was a long weekend. I'll get a new contest up shortly. Great photos this week!

Very flattering thank you I do try but this week i used an archive picture as couldnt get a decent new one.. The challenges are great as they force you to think about and interpret the subject. It also makes you photograph subject matter that left to your own devices, you may not have taken on your own initiative.

So... On to the next...

Absolutely Hugh!

That is very true, I think there's a fine line and there's a lot of talented people in this forum - one of the reasons why I love to share pics here, seek inspiration and listen to others what they have to say, it certainly helped me a lot over time. Also thank you very much for your kind words, I appreciate it! :)

You are right, I have to admit, due to a lack of time, I didn't get out as much as I would like to and with no holidays currently and living in a small town, I had to use archive stuff more than I would like to - I definitely try to get out more and expand more portfolio! :).

Thanks a lot for your comment and I need to check out the new contest by @AlexH!
