You're not alone. :)

It's hard to come to the forums sometimes since the release, since some people are just never happy and complain SO MUCH about some things that are so not a big deal, imo. Bottom line is that this is probably the most solid "version 1" there's ever been, or at least it's way up there. The build quality and interface and how it just feels, is superb. I love it I really do. More than I thought I would.

Not going to lie. I was dying to use it Monday and today.

Let me tell you what happened when I got my iPad on Saturday.

I'm Jewish and observe all holidays. So of course my iPad has so come on Shabbat (sabath) at 12:00 P.M. And sabath didn't end until 8:00 P.M. So there I was with an unopened iPad box. Staring at it for 8 hours when I could even open it because ripping is not allowed.

8:00 comes and I open the iPad. No surprise that I fell in love. Wait it gets better. So Sunday night comes and the second part of the holiday is about to begin and I can't use it until two days from Sunday. Never in my life have I been so tempted. But I made it.

So that's my story. 3 days of which iPad was tempting me.

Notice how I refer to it as iPad and not the iPad. :D:D

Simple solution. Stop believing in fairy tales and move on to science.

Wow! I thought I was the only one!! This thing is always next to me or I'm always on it... I'm a teacher and today was my first day back from spring break and I seriously think I was having withdrawals without my iPad all day! I kept imagining that I was seeing it or it was near me ha! Me = addicted!!

I got a 64GB for my wife today... her birthday is Saturday, so she can't see it. I had to wait all day until now, when she is asleep, to mess with it and set it up! I've been dying!!!

Then, after this, I can't just play with it around the house. I've got to sneak around. :D

Your brave! I couldn't have an iPad in my possession and NOT touch it. Im still waiting to SEE one in person... :)

Your such a good hubby.

haha! Yeah, brave or stupid. Not sure which.

She's been asleep for 2 hours and I'm playing with it and setting it up.

She's not tech savvy, so I couldn't let her open it from the box like suggested above. It needs to be tailored for her in order for her to enjoy it and like it. I'm amazed we stay married considering how tech-averse she is!

She'll love this though. I'm selling her iMac and replacing with this. Her iMac is strictly an email, web surfing, and occasional photo browsing machine, and she usually just uses mine because she doesn't like going upstairs! haha

So, this will be easy to use downstairs and does all she needs and then some.

In the country where I am living it is only available on the black market now and I'm fairly confident I am among the first 50-100 people or less to own one - and I way overpaid for a 16GB model for that privilege. I did not sleep at all last night, skipped a movie I really wanted to see, passed on a night out with my friend and two gorgeous girls and turned a drunk special-lady-friend away at 5am - it has not left my hands (14 hours into my obsession).

I am in heaven.

Well, I did it. Extremely hesitant at first (downright negative on the whole thing). I played with it Saturday at the Apple Store and left feeling like it could be good depending on software. Spent most of Sunday regretting not picking it up. Went back Monday and again left, thinking it to be a luxury I don't necessarily need. Drove down the street to Best Buy to pick up a DVD and ended up talking to an Apple employee who was doing the outside-rep gig. He was the little push I needed to go over the edge.

Maybe I'll actually start reading books to feel justified. :D

Every waking moment that I'm in my house since Saturday I've either been on my iPad or it's been right next to me. I knew i'd like it but I didn't think that I'd be this obsessed. haha it's a good thing I have school and work or else I'd be on it all day. Anybody have the same problem?

You are certainly not alone. The majority of people who own it absolutely love it. The majority of people who don't keep pointing out the problems with it. All of us who own it know that it isn't perfect, but what technological device is? The iPad is just so much damn fun to use for even basic internet tasks. We have a Macbook Air and I quickly grab the iPad when I want to surf.

Yes, there is a glare in sunlight.
Yes, the screen gets filthy from fingerprints.
Yes, many apps are overpriced.
Yes, to many of the other things that people are complaining about

But you know what, I don't regret a single part of my purchase (I will be using it at home so I don't need 3G) and couldn't care less what next year's version will bring. If I need to buy a new one next year, so be it. I will get so much damn pleasure from using this thing for the next 12 months. You really need to sit down and use it for a while and download some of the fantastic apps (mostly the free ones) to really understand why so many people like it so much.

I seriously doubt that anyone who actually uses an iPad for a while could find it easy to put it down! I'm thoroughly convinced that the vast majority of those criticizing the iPad have never actually held one and used it. They hate the "idea" of the iPad, but they don't really "get it". Once you hold it and discover how wonderful it is to actually use, the things it DOESN'T do really melt away into irrelevance.

Yeah I hear ya! I love the screen and all the different apps and the speed is amazing on everything.

This is by far a Great Apple device. ;)

Seriously, I'm impressed that you made it through Shabbat and Pesach to not play with it. Steve Jobs must seriously hate Judaism to release it this past weekend, hah!

I feel the same way! I could give a toss about the 2G iPad because I'm living in the present and enjoying what I own NOW. I can't imagine not having my iPad now!

Just a quick FYI, when you quote someone on a forum you should put three dots (...) if you are cutting out part of their quote. That way if somebody reads the quote in your message they know that they aren't reading the entire quote. So what you should have done was:

The majority of people who don't keep pointing out... But you know what,

It doesn't really matter much with my post, but sometimes there are debates in the forums and people get upset when their point is abbreviated and countered. Hope this helps.

Add me to the obsessed list....my PC is basically gathering dust. The only times I've used the PC since Saturday is to sync with iTunes and install the AirVideo server....and that's been it.

haha. I was only able to play with mine till the battery died.. then I had to go to bed. It's just so pretty, I can't put er down

Yup!

I'm hooked big time!!!

First I have a huge Danger Den liquid cooled hard core gamer system I built a couple years ago. Next I bought a MacBook pro alum unibody and the Danger Den is very lonely these days.

Saturday night I got home then setup my 64g iPad. Sunday I turned the power on my MacBook & it sat there all of Sunday at the login screen LoL.

Monday I turned on my MacBook but picked up my iPad then oops battery getting low so I took the macbook charger block apart & plugged the heavy duty ac cable from the power strip into the charger block that came with my iPad.

Tuesday night UHH think the battery in the MacBook finally ran out from countless days being left on at the login screen HEHE.

I'm also using mywi most of the time just to convince myself I don't need a 3G version. I have one of those little battery charges for iPhone on the go. I can get through the day without running out of power and it's so easy to load mywi at this point I'm glad I chose to go with the wifi model.

Only reason I could see needing a 3G model is if the mywi stopped working. I use my iPhone for phone calls, gps and messaging & the iPad for web stuff and some entertainment.

I love my iPad ;-}

Oh man, this is torture I tell ye!
I gotta wait 3 more weeks until I see some iPad action. :(
Watching so many vids of it on Youtube, reading all the posts here is driving me up the wall, lol.
I've had so many handheld gadgets over the years, and the only one that has stood the test of time, and has been adored for more then 3 months, is my iPhone, which I've had(in various generations), for a little over 2 years.
All the PDA's, PSP's, even older iPod's have had their all to brief honeymoon periods, before becoming 'whatever' items, but not my iPhone, and I know that the iPad will be the same, probably "an order of magnitude more".

I'm sick of the waiting - I wanna just... DO! [/Forstall] :D

A lot of people that I have talked to kind of laugh at it at first then do the obligatory "lemme try" and its hard to get it back from them haha. Im defiantly addicted. Only reason I booted up my MacBook Pro is because Im juicing up the iPad right now.
