Down south
I had to go in the Apple store yesterday to have them look at my granddaughter’s iPad.

Now I’ve done it; I’ve seen the new pros in person. I can’t unsee them.

Of course, I want one, even though my 2018 iPad is just fine, and does everything I really need.

They’re just so dang pretty.

They are glorious! I have the 12.9 and I adore it.

Before you do it take a look here

https://www.macrumors.com/2018/12/19/apple-2018-ipad-pros-ship-bent/

And read some of the almost 1k comments
Ya, that can happen. My 12.9-inch iPad Pro is not bent at all — every edge is arrow-straight. Even if by chance it is bent, you simply return it within 14 days for an exchange.

I had the first-generation 12.9 iPad Pro. I exchanged multiple times because of terrible backlight bleed. I finally settled on a unit without the backlight bleed problem, but the screen had warm streaks in it. I was glad to get rid of it for this new iPad Pro — much, much nicer.

It is Christmas and if you have been good, get it for yourself! You can always sell the 2018 to help with the costs!

That's what I did. I do not support Apple's stance on iPads with a bend being normal, but my 11" does not have a bend and it is an absolutely wonderful device. I love that it is thin and light and the screen is amazing. Speedy too. Just be sure to check it out well and return it by Jan 8 if it is bent.

Yep. I knew better than to see them. I've been perfectly fine since selling my 2nd gen 12.9 and going to the 2018. I had always planned on getting the new, smaller pro when they released, but I've not had a real reason to do it. But then of course I saw them and now I WANT ONE!

You're just a bit delusional from newdeviceitis-induced fever. Drink lots of fluids, get a lot of rest, and buy a new case or keyboard for that 2018 iPad and all will be well. Once the fever breaks, you'll appreciate saving that money for the next iPad Pro that WILL be worth the money. :)

I updated from an iPad Pro 9.7. The two best features of my new 11 inch wifi iPad are the new pencil and face id. Would be hard to go back to the old one now. I say go for it!

LOL you’re so right! I just poured myself a nice, dark, coffee stout and I’m gonna read through that thread about how horrible all the bent iPads are and make myself feel better. ;-p

I WAS thinking I could maybe get some AirPods to make myself feel better. I don’t have any of those.

I did play with that new pencil in the store. It’s impressive.

I have Face ID on my phone, and I do think I’d enjoy having it on my iPad. I might hold out til they new regular pads come out and see what they’re gonna have to offer and then decide. If I can stay out of the Apple store, I should be okay. ;-p

And significantly smaller, and faster. Just don’t get the LTE version those have a weak point and come bent from the factory.

Apple of course says it’s normal.

I was going to hold off this year since I had the 10.5 and 12.9 2nd gen, but I had double knee replacements coming up and reading about the new iPads was helping my mental state leading up to surgery. So I decided to go for it after all and I’m very glad that I did.
I ordered the 12.9 for delivery since I was wheelchair bound leading up to surgery. It arrived 2 days after surgery and was perfect timing except that it was bent out of the box and I returned it. I waited until confirmation that Apple received the return before ordering again. My new one arrived yesterday, 2 days before leaving hospital. It’s perfect. I’m so happy that I returned the one that was not flat and waited for a new one to be delivered. This is now my favourite Apple device. I was planning on keeping the 10.5, but now I am not so sure that I need to. The 12.9 is now much more portable and it feels like the perfect size to me now. Previously, I needed one for portability and one for the bigger screen, but now I feel that the 12.9 is both of those in one device. I’m so happy that I upgraded. I’m not helping you am I, or are I?

I just bought my first iPad, I’ve owned several iPhones though and a slew of other Apple stuff. I got the 12.9 with the pencil and love it. It’s such a beautiful device. I wasn’t sure I would like it as much as i do. One of the best purchase I’ve made in a while.

Well crap - I have to get LTE if I get one, so I guess that’s definitely off the table!

This is the worst kind of support group! ;)

OP: I'm tempted to try heroin.

MacRumors: OMG you'll love it! And while you're at it, try Coke and Meth too!

Right? Definitely no one to talk me down from the ledge.

Mine is LTE. The first one was bent out of the box and I returned it. The second one is great. Just check it when buying and you’ll be right. It’s not a problem, really.

Lol not much. I had a 12.9 pro earlier in the year, and I did really love the device, although it wasn’t as portable as I would’ve liked. I sold it with plans to get the updated, smaller version when they were released. The thing is, my 2018 pad really does all I need it to do, but it just isn’t as pretty. ;-p

I also really did like the new pencil. I just know I really don’t NEED that.

I certainly can’t imagine not having an iPad. I have had every single one Apple has ever made, other than the 9.7 and 10.5 pros. I use my iPad every, single day. In fact, I ditched my iMac after buying my 1st generation 12.9 pro. It just did everything I needed it to do.

But honestly, so does my 2018 iPad. It’s not quite as fancy, but it’s doing the job. I just can’t help but like the fancy stuff. You know what they say; champagne taste on a (craft) beer budget. ;-p

Here's my story! I bought the iPad Pro in 2017 and never had problems with it until 2 months before warranty expiration when it stopped reacting on touching the screen. I did replace it in the Apple store but they never admitted it was an issue. They did replace it though. Well... after 3 months the new iPad Pro stopped reacting on touching the screen again. The problem is random, and you can see threads about it all over the Internet (look for iPad Pro unresponsive screen). Apple doesn't admit there's this problem, so the warranty is ended and I'm having a non-working iPad Pro for $1000+ (including pencil).

So everybody be careful about Apple not admitting their problems. Your 14 days windows closes, then your warranty closes and then you face your expensive purchase with all its inconsistent behavior that Apple doesn't accept as a problem. And they do it now a lot.

The new 12.9 is a more portable size than the old one. I know you know that already and I did too. But I’m just saying because I really do love the size of the new 12.9.

I thought that was resolved with an iOS update some time ago. Sounds like you have a different issue to the one resolved via the update then. I take it that you have tried erasing all content and setting up as new to test it’s not software related. Maybe then try another Apple store to see if you can get it replaced.
Maybe it’s country related since in Australia, Apple will look after us with warranty issues for 2 years.
