Totally.

The newer form factor 12.9 is actually useable in hand, whereas the first one with Touch ID wasn’t. I like to use my iPads with an Apple Pencil to take notes when I am walking around a site. You have to hold them a little like a clipboard, cradled in your arm. This works well now with either an 11 or 12.9, although it’s more convenient with the 11.
I am even finding that I use my 12.9 one handed quite often while reading when it’s not on the Magic Keyboard. To me, it’s really quite light for that purpose.

Looks good :D i have been doing some research (to decide between a Surface Book 3 or to upgrade my 2017 iPad Pro to the new one) and i've just found out that LumaFusion (video editing app) supports the new Magic Keyboard and trackpad. I edit videos currently on my MacBook Pro 13" 2019 (my 2012 iMac can't handle even the light editing i do) I'm thinking for that reason the upgrade to the new 2020 iPad Pro will be worth it along with the Magic Keyboard, which i really thought was very expensive, however it may earn its price tag by allowing me to edit in LumaFusion, write in Final Draft, photo edit in Pixelmator, Affinity Photo and play games, along with all the usual web browsing, video watching and so on.

With WWDC on the 22nd, i'm hoping that we see more features for the Magic Keyboard/trackpad and iPadOS moving forward. It's interesting times when we can now video edit with a trackpad and keyboard on an iPad :D

LumaFusion is pretty brilliant on the iPad. Over the last few months I found myself having to do three pretty big video projects and decided it was time to bite the bullet and learn LumaFusion. I did one of them on my 2018 11” iPad Pro and two of them on my 2020 12.9” iPad Pro. Long story short: I don’t think I’m ever going with the 11” model again.

Just watch. I’ll finally buy luma fusion after thinking about it for months and then apple will finally drop Final Cut Pro x for iPad next month

It’s possible that they will, with this new 2020 iPad Pro and the Magic Keyboard, the only thing Apple needs to do now is release Pro level apps. Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro would be great. If I was you I would wait until the WWDC keynote to see what they announce.

Also I’ve noticed that the Magic Keyboard and iPad Pro 12.9” have long delivery dates (at least here in the U.K) I wonder if this is an indication that they are selling well. From the reviews I’ve seen on Youtube the magic keyboard is being very well received (the price is often quoted as being a negative.)

iPad’s are selling well due to the pandemic and resupply has been thin.

Well... I just ordered a 12.9 Cellular myself ?

Looks like it will be 3-4 weeks before it arrives...

I went with the cellular version as I'm in a long-distance relationship - which is brutal with all the borders shut down etc - so - I find myself on many days out in the middle of the park field with my iPhone on Zoom talking to someone 3000 miles away on my... And honestly, I'd like to see her face life-size :)

I'm replacing an original iPad Air which still runs awesome but is full on storage, and still on iOS 10.3.3 since if I update to iOS 11 - I will lose the ability to play all my favourite games on there that I collected since the iPad 1. So, I'm keeping it as a kind of time capsule device... Something I can pull out on occasion and play those old favourite games...

Otherwise though - when in NYC and travelling the continent I take my MBP 13" everywhere in my backpack, and this will at times just be easier as I only need a keyboard on writing days - and on other days this will be easier to carry for just travel research and map exploring.

Plus - I like that it can be used as a Homekit Hub. Going to give that a try. And I get 15x miles per $1 right now LOL

Yes, I have my iPad Pro to edit videos with a trackpad and keyboard. Who needs a good touch interface which is made for video editing. Hope Apple is showing something in THAT direction.

I haven't tried the new Magic Keyboard so i'm not sure how good it is at editing in LumaFusion. As for touch while it's good, i'm not sure its as good as a mouse/trackpad.

You're right. If done correctly, a touch interface is even better than mouse/trackpad for video editing.

i disagree, touch isn’t right for video editing. For example the short cuts in Final Cut Pro.

I have not used Final Cut and in general I do not do that much video editting. I have used some iMovie but nothing serious - just putting pictures in a video. I do not like the touch interface as my finger is not as precise as mouse pointer. Sometimes I want to choose specific second and I cannot do it with a finger. With mouse pointer it is personally easier for me.

I have the same problem with editting voice memos. Sometimes I need really fine precision that works better with either mouse cursor or with using a keyboard and entering specific moment at time.
