what 2x4 RAM to buy for i7 - 8gb(apple)

I picked up my new iMac 27" i7 with 8GB ram (2x4), i want to add another 8GB, I was wondering what other people are using. should i buy the same Ram that apple put in or should i buy a different brand.
side note:
- no yellow tinting
- no dead pixels
- quiet as quiet can get

i got the same thing (2x4gb from owc) last week. very happy, combined them with the standard 2x2gb that the i7 shipped with..no problems
 
I've been happy with OWC and Crucial.

Do find myself wondering why one would need 16GB. Are you getting page outs with just 8 GB?
 
I actually bought 4 of them. Didn't try two along with the original. I would have had one of them been bad since that happened to my PC a while back.
 
Right now Fry's in the SF Bay Area is selling single 4GB SO-DIMM Modules from Patriot for $124.99 w/ a $75 Mail in Rebate. That's $49.99 which is half the price of Newegg for 4GB and $99.98 for 8GB. I bought 4 4GB modules today. I think the MIR ends 9/2.

PSD34G13332S is the model number.
 
Just finished adding the 4x4GB modules to my i7 iMac. Seems to be working fine and was very easy to install.

The price with Mail in Rebate is ridiculously low right now. I think it might be because they are dropping the 10666 line of SO-DIMM from their stable. I don't see the same model on the site anywhere. Whatever, 10666 and 10600 are pretty much the same. 16GB for $200 I couldn't pass that up.

That sounds kind of high, I just received the 2X4 GB I ordered from OWC for $279.29 with shipping. Here's the info:

is that store only?? i looked on the website dont see it there
 
I ordered 2x4GB from OWC @ 235 a few days ago, went up to 12GB in my 27" i7 iMac. Good shipping times, got it in 3 days I think (first Fedex option for shipping).

Definitely don't buy the RAM from Apple, they charge nearly 3x for what you could get from OWC.

Per my own suggestion from above, this is what I did last week. Got (2) 4GB OCZ DDR3 10666 (same as 10600, just marketing nonsense).

Put it in slot 1/2 and put existing apple SODIMMs in slot 3/4. 12GB, runs like a dream.

And I got (2) 4 GB flashdrives for free too.

Yes, it seems to be only at the store. Also, that specific part number does not appear on the Patriot website anywhere that I could find. $49.99 for 4GB is really cheap. The only thing I can figure is that Patriot is phasing out 10666 memory because I don't see any 10666 in the Signature Line. I only see 10600 in Signature and 10666 in Extreme Performance memory. Everyone seems to agree that it really don't make any difference especially if you match all 4 sticks.

Do you think i should get an iMac i7 with 2x4gb and then buy these 2x4g?

I would not do it that way. It's a $400 up charge to go to the 2x4GB. I would either just add 2x4GB to the 2x2GB stock RAM for 12GB total or replace the stock 2x2GB as well for 16GB total.
 
serious question..

any reason that nobody has mentioned g.skill ram in this thread? pricing seems to be comparable to those listings mentioned..
