I notice it says you have 3019 MB. Looks like one of your modules has some nonworking chips.

INTERESTING!!!

I was wondering why it said that. I thought that perhaps the system was using 1 gig to run the OS and the mem test or something.

I'll get OWC on the horn first thing in the morning.

THIS IS BIZARRE!!! I shut down, took out and re-installed the RAM (I was really AR about it and did it properly). I started a new mem test and Now it says... 3492 MB. still running...

Mac OS X 10.4.11 (8S2167) running in multiuser mode
Memory Page Size: 4096
System has 2 Intel processor(s) with SSE
Requested memory: 3492MB (3662061568 bytes)
Available memory: 3492MB (3662061568 bytes)
Allocated memory: 3492MB (3662061568 bytes) at local address 0x0000000104008000
Attempting memory lock... locked successfully
Partitioning memory into 2 comparison buffers...
Buffer A: 1746MB (1831030784 bytes) starts at local address 0x0...
Buffer B: 1746MB (1831030784 bytes) starts at local address 0x0...

Running 1 test sequence... (CTRL-C to quit)

Test sequence 1 of 1:

Running tests on full 3492MB region...

Stuck Address : testing 14 of 16

I don't think anyone's suggested the Apple hardware test. It should be on your install discs. I think you hold down "D" on bootup.

when you installed it, did u touch any metal first? to remove any static electricity from your body before touching the RAM?

Yes. I followed all protocol (non-magnetized screwdriver, touched metal inside to ensure no static, proper angle for removal and insertion or RAM, etc.

Memory Page Size: 4096 simply means your swap file size is 4 MB.
Just to be sure, you *are* running memtest in single user mode right?
Because if you run memtest within OSX, it only tests the memory that is free/available. To fully test your RAM you need to boot into Single User Mode (command prompt only, basically). Read the readme that came with memtest for more details.

Is there any way to open single user boot other than using startup commands? I'm using a 3rd party usb bluetooth adapter and the keyboard isn't recognized for boot commands. It would be nice if I could reset the PRAM and OpenFirmware too.
