Waiting on an ultimate Scheduling/To-do/List manager app, and a stable finance app that has the speed of entry of an app like Accountr, the stability of an app like Checkbook, but the bells and whistles of SplashMoney.

Also, a Rotten Tomatoes app that includes just the Tomato meter, the average rating, the synopsis, and the general consensus for movie. Current movie apps include just new releases, and looking it up on the net takes too much time and battery life. I wanna be able to quickly look up that info while standing in a video rental shop.

I saw an app for Korean 101, a similar app for Japanese would be great (I've got vocab learning apps and dictionaries, just need the know-how to use all that vocab and kanji I'm learning).

Turn by turn GPS. Quite honestly, I don't think it's coming. This is my biggest dissapointment with the Iphone.

That's what I want too. For some reason, the all-mighty dollar, and greed is the reason why it hasn't happened yet.

I really want more official branded board games such as Battleship, RISK, etc.. (I really need to try out the new Monopoly too!)

I could also go for more highly polished "full games" that take advantage of the touch screen UI rather than trying to emulate D pad and buttons. If Fieldrunners had more maps and features this would be one. Its got a nice level of polish, graphics, controls, etc.. just not a lot of content.

On top of that less cell phone/puzzle games and more fully featured games. Devs should think hey this is like making a DS game but without the buttons! :D

I'm waiting for Metro for the iPhone, due out sometime early 2009
http://metro.nanika.net/index.php?p=MetroZ

it's one of the few apps I miss after switching from Palm Treo to iPhone. it's the best transit route planning app, IMO. and the developer is finally porting it to the iPhone. I really miss it when I travel overseas.

the other couple apps I miss from PalmOS days, not essential but kinda unique are:

Planetarium - astronomy / stargazing app
PocketSat - satellite tracking app

Firefox mobile!
Pokemon!
Super Mario Bros.
Super Smash Bros. Touch! :D
Call of Duty
uTorrent (jk, but seriously, that would be hilarious)
iWork or Microsoft Office!
Photoshop!!!

Copy & Paste!

A whole app just for copy/paste? Damn.

Yes, it will all become clear. Sorry I can't be more specific, or confirm that somebody else nailed it.

Doug

Just say, 900 foot Dief, striding across The Hill Country. Etc.

What...the... hell.. are you saying? Your English baffles me.

i was playing burning monkey casino and inside is an included scratch ticket application. by rubbing your fingers on the screen it scratches the ticket. My parents really enjoyed this. scratch ticket fun without the expense. anyway what im waiting for is a better version of this concept but with many more ticket types.

something like 2 5 10 and 20 dollar tickets of varies game types would be awesome

+1

there used to be an app called Tomatoes that offered a simple interface to search the RT database and presents the avg rating and one-page synopsis. I used it quite bit doing exactly as you described, deciding which movie to watch at the theater or at the video store. Unfortunately the app just went dark one day without any notice or explanation. The app is no longer in the app store. I suspect the developer likely received a cease and desist letter from RT's lawyers for unauthorized use of RT's content. I do hope if RT bothered to take down an unauthorized app, it is developing an iphone app on its own and it's coming soon.

Slingplayer (absolute #1, I'll jump for joy when this comes out and pray it's 3G capable)
Flash - I'm sick of not being able to watch icenetwork.com, and hulu would be a great bonus
Mobipocket reader (thank goodness I mostly went with ereader on the Palm, but I do have a few DRM'd Mobi titles unfortunately)
Real player (for BBC radio outside UK)
Documents To Go
Sirius/XM player
Turn by Turn GPS

cool! that's what i really want... but can an app do this for iPhone? I guess only Apple can make such one....

It would have to be part of the framework, not an app. Right now, apps can't communicate with each other because no background apps are allowed.
