I love 5.8 so much that I just bought an 11 pro so I can hang onto this size for a while. Had the XR previously and it’s just too big for me. Unless they shrink down the overall footprint of the successive iPhones, I don’t know what I’ll do.. be forced to adapt to the 6.1, I suppose.

I’ve been thinking the same. I’d like to see someone with a dummy unit stack a 5.8” iPhone on top of the 6.1” iPhone 12 so we can get an idea of the size difference.

Wouldn't it be close to stacking an X/XS/11p on top of a XR/11?

I have the 11 Pro and the 5.8" is a very nice in between size. I believe the 5.4" model is going to have a lower cost display so my choice is going to probably be the 6.1" Pro.

I’m sticking to my 11 pro, I had to buy two phones this year because i lost my pro max because it was so big it fell out of my pocket. I replaced it with an 11 pro because I like the size more. When I eventually upgrade and if the sizes are the same I would go the 6.1” route as it should be slightly smaller than the XR/11 owing to smaller bezels and that phone is a great size.

Yea I’ve been thinking about potential battery life with the 5.4. Although I’m almost always near or have power. I currently have an SE.

My job I’m out and about and don’t have access to outlets mostly but I do carry an Anker portable charger. I always have to charge it about 4-5 into my job and then like to top it off before I leave. I have lots of down time on my job and I’m a pretty heavy user.

My work vehicle which I’m in or near most of the time doesn’t have any outlets is why I have a portable charger. If I’m in the work vehicle I keep my SE plugged into the portable charger all the time.

The problem is when I’m not in the vehicle and doing heavy use. Yes I do bring the portable charger with me but it’s a PIA to keep my SE charging even though the Anker fits in my pocket.

The SE definitely doesn’t last me the day for my use. But I sacrificed that for a device being comfortably pocketable.

We had a trip planned for France this year but that was cancelled for obvious reasons. I would defiantly need to bring my Anker with me cause of heavy use taking pics and videos and WhatsApp.

When I had the 11 Pro battery life was better but still didn’t last me the work day of 8 hours. But only had to top it off about an hour before I left work vs my SE having to keep on charger and 2 top off chargers before I left work.

On the weekends and when I get home from work it’s not such an issue. This is when I appreciate the pocketability of the SE especially when I’m in my street clothes.
I have an 11 Pro and an SE. I am carrying my SE most of the time now especially since I prefer having the Touch ID as I run errands while wearing a mask. I’ve got no complaints about the SE battery life but the battery health has lost a percent point for every month that I’ve had it so far. 😟. My 11 Pro has taken 3/4 of a year to wear out that much. I hope my SE lasts me a long time before I need to replace the battery.

I am definitely staying put on my SE and my 11 Pro. Apple has reportedly gone with a newer simpler cheaper kind of battery. Cheap doesn’t equal lower quality, assuming I understood the conversation on it correctly. But I’m sitting this upgrade out because my 11 Pro is practically perfect in every way except being heavy and very expensive to repair. Lol, also I like that green color!

It should be even closer, if the bezels on the 12 are smaller than the XR/11. If.

The SE‘s having the last laugh right now, as the rest of us mask-wearing bandits fall back to archaic password unlocks on our Face ID iPhones!

Just got an 11 Pro late last December so I’m good keeping it. I try not to upgrade annually anymore haha. I test out the devices but I upgrade more when the next 2-3 versions bring enough improvements. These phones are expensive now, their processors are incredibly powerful and don’t slow down every year or two any more, and upgrades generation to generation are more incremental now

Plus with no more subsidies anymore in Canada (where I live) is hard to justify for me

Despite that, I enjoy watching new products come out and look forward to the 12 series reveal

I have an iPhone 11 right now and, frankly, I think it's a bit too big. While 5.8 inches is probably about right, I'll check out the 5.4-inch screens. But if I don't like it, I'll just skip a generation - or two, if I have to.

Apparently the 5.4/6.1 regular 12 models will have same bezel thickness as current oled models (x/xs/11pro)
With the 12 pro series having thinner bezels (0.5-1mm)

All models will have thinner bezels than XR/11

Similar to my tastes. I had the 6.1” XR and later 11. I found both phones fantastic but just a wee bit too large for myself, to the point they were too thick and wide by just a bit - that small bit that crosses the threshold of comfort.
The X and 11 Pro have been absolutely comfortable in the hand for single handed use.

Ironically my partner has smaller hands than me, yet she prefers the XR/11 size. Strange.

That said, the new 6.1” 12 models will be thinner and less wide than the XR/11 due to both thinner bezels and flat edges. Only the physical display size will be the same at 6.1” but the phones themselves will be somewhere between the 5.8” 11 Pro and 6.1” 11 in physical size

Yep, all these rumours point to the 6.1” Non-Pro not being much bigger than the iPhone X in form factor, which is perfect for me, as I’ll get a slight boost in screen size along with performance (CPU/RAM/GPU), camera, battery, 5G. All in the non-Pro. I hope.

Currently have an 5.8 X and want something a little bigger so definitely going for one of the 6.1 models. Undecided on Pro/Non-Pro yet. I think I'll have to see the keynote first and feature difference between pro/non-pro before making up my mind haha.

If the rumours are true and the 6.1 is the same footprint as the X/11 due to reduced bezels I’ll probably end up getting that. I really do think this size is perfect. Not too big not too small.

I’m still surprised that the rumor is we’ll see two 6.1 phones. What’s the point?

I assume one will be higher end than the other altho I'm not sure in what areas... This feels like the first time in a couple years where we're actually going into september without knowing much about these iphones, if there's really two 6.1 phones then Apple must have something up their sleeve to differentiate the pro's from the non-pro's. I guess we'll see at the keynote :)

Working from home has made pocketability pretty much irrelevant for me, going as big as possible 😁
If using at home, instead of upgrading your current phone you may want to go really big and get an iPad mini. Bigger and less expensive as a bonus. Then you have a big device for home, and a pocketable device for when you do go out. Just a thought.
