somewhere warm, dark, and cozy
I'll start:

The biggest of them all:

1. I just wish iCloud mail automatically synced read status across devices, it still doesn't (since forever)

And here are some others:

2. Safari bookmarks still don't display favicons
3. Can't clear all new notifications all at once unless there is at least one old notification present
4. Can't protect Hidden Photos
5. Can't search phone recents
6. Can't search blocked contacts
7. Can't customize the two shortcuts at the bottom of the lock screen
8. Can't disable Shortcuts completion popup whenever you run a Shortcut from home screen
9. Can't see which number/email I receive a FaceTime call on
10. Can't see which number/email I receive an iMessage on
11. Can't see full URLs in Safari
12. Can't turn off smart addresses in Mail

I was hoping for more customization features. That's literally all I was hoping for. I don't mind the other cool features, but in all honesty, this update's just been underwhelming.

-Home screen customization (like placing icons/widgets everywhere we want)
-Safari extensions
-fix smart invert colours issues that was here since iOS 13.0
-The ability to unlock both iPhone and iPad with the Apple Watch if faceID failed regardless if you have a mask or not.

  • Passcode protected photo folder within the photos app.
  • DELETE ALL button for iMessage attachements
  • Change Apps on lock screen to any app you like instead of the stupid flashlight or camera that can already be accessed with a swipe anyway ...
  • Customisations for iMessage. You still cannot use a wallpaper, like really? That was literally the biggest complaint on SIGNAL after people have started to jump ship from WhatsApp and they added it immediately

You can turn on full safari URLS in settings

We’ll be getting these features after we get another 100 Animojis and memoji features.

iMessage - was hoping to be on par with whatsapp or telegram. Give delete messages option, may be timer option.

Calendar.

Consistently awful since the beginning.

No proper week/agenda view. No proper month view. Basically the two most important and obvious views missing. Hardly surprising there are many third-party solutions.

Ability to hide the App Library entirely.
Ability to hide the "home bar" on Notched phones (don't have one yet but it'd be nice to never have to worry about burn in, plus it just looks ugly).

A new UI design that looks like macOS, specifically the 3D with shadows, not the ugly extreme whiteness of the general UI.

I've never had this issue. When I read a message on one device, the status syncs across all others, just like literally every other email provider.

This. I was predominantly hoping for a Big-Sur-style follow-up to iOS 14, refreshed icons and all. The oversimplified, flat iOS 7-era interface design language is definitely beginning to feel clinical and dated especially considering the significantly shinier and more soulful/modernized presentation offered on macOS.

At this rate it looks like the world will have to wait for iOS 16 (or, I dread to think, longer) to get that truer design refresh, perhaps akin to how Apple held out for years on revealing its darker user interface designs. ‘Tis a shame indeed but this way more extensively supporting devices/chipsets so that they remain speedy and with access to new features is, I would wager, more feasible and the growing plethora is surely impressive—and appreciated.

For a privacy focused company, they sure don't seem to care about our nudes ;)
Funny, I remember reading something about this in the early days of iOS (before it was actually called "iOS") and it was something like Steve Jobs (or Tim Cook?) saying that Apple was a family-friendly company, which is why they didn't allow adult (XXX, explicit) apps and why they didn't allow you to lock the camera roll. I'm probably way off, but I do remember reading something to that effect, about 10-12 years ago.
