They won't. But if they wanted to, they could. There is no hardware limitation whatsoever.
As long as they don't have the guy who designed the Magic Mouse do it! Introducing FaceID for the Macbook Pro!, just tilt the machine back and face the sensor conveniently located on the bottom of your computer!! ?

That’s more for when Android OEMs start making laptops and putting their fingerprint sensors there.

Look at the size of the Face ID camera sensor and at the thickness of a MacBook Pro display. Then try again.

Unless of course you are talking about a nosecam solution. Ugh.

It’s a shame that the sensor is so big because it’s a solution that seems perfect for a laptop More than it is on devices like an iPad. Touch ID works too, but there’s no harm in having options.

Expect 1080p camera (not faceID), thanks to its new design where the lid is not that thin anymore and Apple can bring the imac facetime camera to the Mbp as well
Why do you expect they'll be making the lid thicker? I've heard no rumors about that. They won't create a thicker lid just to acommodate a camera at one tiny spot, since that would be mostly wasted space and thus make no sense.

If they could put it close enough to the top edge of the display, they might be able acomodate a thicker camera by putting a small bump there, and making a corresponding divot just below trackpad*, but that seems like an unlikely design choice for Apple, for various reasons.

*Specifically, they would need to extend the grab cutout upward at the center toward the trackpad:

all the major leakers says beginning of the summer/ WWDC
we had mbp and mac pro at WWDC so many times

Not so quick. Hardware has been shown at WWDC previously so it’s still up in the air as if we will get something exciting or not

WWDC is almost half the time also hardware. Even as recently as 2019.
WWDC is over so I guess this makes me a more accurate source than your leakers ??. I do have to say this is the most meh WWDC since I started following them a long time ago.

I like that idea, but I don't see it happening either.

Why do (people) expect they'll be making the lid thicker? I've heard no rumors about that.

There have been claims and rumors that the new MacBook Pros will be adopting the same design language as the iPhone, iPad and iMac and go with "slab sides" which would mean a uniform thickness across the device and no more tapered edges on either the lid or lower body.

The leaked documents by REvil from Quanta that show the I/O setup for the MBP also show that the sides on at least the lower body are now a uniform thickness.

Ah, so not a thicker lid, but thicker edges. And since the camera is currently in the tapered region, that gives it more thickness.
