No where did I say that I had a problem with both. See!
Fantastic that means we do agree :)
Look I didn't ever want to come across as confrontational, maybe that's my typing style and at 53 I'm too old to change. I just wanted to put across a point of view that there are not-particularly-rare occasions where FaceID is just not good enough, and TouchID was better. I definitely see a reason for both.

Touch ID can appear again anytime. Just remember the force touch, it was the main feature that differentiated iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s. Back then, there was a lot of talk wether it's the same as long touch and what's the purpose of this feature anyway.

Now Apple got rid of force touch all together. So anything is possible.

If someone is still making the screens in the size they want: possible.
But I don't think they are and putting resources into something like this, blocking out production that could be put to something else with a limited run therefore expensive: it isn't going to happen

don't want touch - wouldn't use it if an option. Face-ID works close to 100% for me. Touch Id on my iPad maybe 60% with first touch. Face ID works fine with mask. Have to take gloves off in winter for Touch (live in Maine)

I love it, too! It is just about seamless for me, I forget what it is doing on both my iPhone and iPad. Even works perfectly with my sunglasses. Only time it did not work was when i was rarely wearing a mask.

Disclaimer: It should have both for those who like Touch ID If possible.
