M2 Extreme SoCs @ 3nm
WWDC 2023
No viable high end Mac Pro until months after
AMD Ryzen 7000X series and Gen13 fully relase.
AMD Epyc is fully out. Even Intel Xeon SP v4 shipping
Nvidia 4000 GPUs fully out and AMD 7000 GPU fully out.
Good luck with that. Finishing up the Mac Pro exactly one year late at WWDC 2023 is a good way to get clowned in the press.
If TSMC is actually limited on N3 wafers they should do that the other way around. M2 Extreme first because its sky high price will crush demand and then go to Ultra which is also going to naturally inhibit demand . Then Max last as the wafer start volume ramps up. The volume of what TSMC is reportedly kicking off later in September with probably can't do Max by itself. Let alone the other stuff.
Once the Extreme demand opened a window then, Ultra. No need to wait for a dog and pony show to start filling demand on the rest of the Mac Pro configurations.
If part of the Extreme and Ultra are still using the Max tile/chiplet to get long term amortization on costs then doing extremes and Ultras is going to impede the number of dies available as singles. Have to be able to make high volumes of Maxes to amortize over large number of them.
Apple seriously needs to revise the Mac Pro far , far , far more than revise the Studio inside of a year.
