You don't need 3g is you have an iPhone. Just jailbreak it and instead of spending 130 bucks + monthly bill. Spend 10 bucks on MyWi and tether. It works perfectly for me.

I'm restoring my iPad now. It was going well until I was editing info.plist files then the wifi bars stop showing and the loading icon in the top bar stopped showing.

I love the keyboard on the iPad btw! I can type like a pro on it!

Initially I wanted the 16GB because price is the only thing on my mind, however there's no such thing as "Too much Storage", anyone who says that there is such a thing, they are just being cheap, although there's nothing wrong with being cheap if it suits you, but there's no such thing as too much storage. That being said I'm ordering the 64GB 3G. I plan on keeping it for a while and I need it for work purposes as well as personal.
I think this "not buying the max is being cheap" mentality needs to stop. There's "being cheap" and there's "being sensible." "Being cheap" is compromising when you really want something else - ie, you really want the 64 or even 32gb Ipad, but you only have $499 plus tax right now. That's being cheap and you'll regret it. "Being sensible" is when you know you just will not utilize all that space.

Example: I bought the 16gb Iphone two years ago. Have I ever filled it up? Not once, not even close. I think the most I've ever had on it was 8gb, and I don't use it as an Ipod, so I don't need to fill it with music - I just did because I could. Why did I buy it? Because I fell victim to this "buy the max or you'll regret it" mentality. I should have saved myself the $100. I don't regret it, that's a stupid thing to regret, but it's a lesson learned. Buy what you NEED.

Amen. When you are buying a device that is in this price range, the difference between models is negligible in the grand scheme of things. I am not cheap, however I realize that I'll never use the 16 I got so why would I waste money on more storage?

I have a "virgin" iPhone running 3.1.3, is it possible to jailbreak this?
I've seen mixed answers.
Tethering is all I care about. If I can't JB my iPhone I think I will be waiting for the EVO or go with the palm pre...
I'd like to keep my iPhone tho...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Also, buy what you can afford. There was no way that I could afford a 64gb iPad or even a 32gb one at the time, so I got 16gb version which I am happy with.

I have a 64GB 3G.

I'm currently using ~25GB of it, though if I wanted to be frugal I could remove some of that.

The biggest reason I got the largest storage possible was because I don't think any of us have any real idea the kind of apps/data that might be coming out over the next year or so.

This is a brand new type of platform, and I'm quite certain there'll be things in the future that will benefit greatly from the extra storage.

16gb wifi has been fine. But I'm extremely selective about what I install on any of my devices, and unused stuff gets deleted very quickly. I also refuse to pay AT&T for two data plans, and if I have absolutely no other connectivity, my iPhone becomes a hotspot (thanks spirit).

Needs change, and the unexpected occurs when least expected. If you're not getting 3G (making on the go streaming of video and audio files more accessible), you may consider the 32GB or 64GB model an option. I have a number of apps that are several hundred megabytes each, and many apps use a certain amount of space for cache. Along with family photos, movies and a little music, I'm already up to 23GB, and I've only had the device for a few days. As times progresses the space usage WILL creep up. It'll probably be a year before the next major revision.

I have no doubt anyone and everyone could make do with 16GB. It just comes down to how diligent you'll want to be at being selective with your content.

I have the 16 Gig Wifi model mainly because of cost. I investigated purchasing movies and was astonished when I saw that Lord of the Rings would have taken up 8 gig on my device, over half! So I thought about upgrading but ultimately decided to practice some self control and live with the apps, documents and photos I need to carry around and forgo the stuff I don't really need like movies sitting on my iPad. I can use Netflix whenever I'm in range of wifi as I can listen to Pandora. Mine has 10 gig free right now. I could fill it up rather quickly if I wanted to, especially with over 30 gig in my iTunes library and 70+ gig in my iPhoto library. I'm choosy about what gets on my device.

BTW, I never sync. I only "transfer purchases" and "backup" my iPad now and then. Eventually I will bite the bullet and sync, but for now I'm too busy with other things.

I have posted an iPad review, linked in my sig...

I have a 16gb. Could have went for the 32/64 but it was a waste of money.
Also did not consider the 3g option. My iphone with mywi gives me the same fnctionality for a savings of like 700 bucks during a 2 year span.

I use the cloud as my storage. Use dropbox to access all my pictures/music/videos/documents.

Also use mobileme for pictures/videos.pandora to stream music sometimes. Use netflix/abc to watch movies/tv shows.

Use air video to access my 500+ movie collection.

My bases are covered. My whole intention for buying the ipad was to migrate my entire life to the cloud and i can honestly say mission accomplished.
