Went to work.

Man 08:04x was that the app? I was barely a kilometre from you and couldn’t get into the app until 08:08

Restore from backup, stare at the display for a while and maybe unlock/lock my phone a few times to try out FaceID. Maybe take a look at Animoji for a grand total of 30 seconds before moving on and never using it again.

Oh and take a few pics of my garden to test out the camera.

Yeah I was refreshing like crazy as my train pulled in. Assumed it would be up at 8:01 on the dot so was very confused.

Macrumors also refused to load so I couldn’t find out what was up!

Poomoji.

Then immediately come to MacRumors to watch what "gate" people decide to obsess about this year. My money is on differing LTE modems speeds between models.

Actually, my money is on Bluetooth for one of this year's possible "gates". If the BT Radio and/or BT Software is anything like the 8/8+, I think there's going to be an uproar when people can't keep their X's connected to their car's audio systems.

My 8+ has been a nightmare with endless loops of disconnects and reconnects about 90 seconds apart on 3 different cars but I don't think this is getting a lot of attention since a lot of people opted to wait for the X and didn't order the 8's so the crying has been minimal thus far.

Well first open it up and immediately slap a screen protector on it, only to discover a bubble under it. Fight with said bubble for 30 mins till I finally take the screen protector off and try again only this time to realize a rogue finger print under it. Remove it and start again. Then finally play with the phone lol

That's awesome, I've totally been there, done that and got the t-shirt! :D

Inspect it to make sure my $1,000+ phone doesn't have any dead / stuck pixels or dust under the glass. Also, no screen abnormalities in general. But I'm not holding my breath because 9/10 Apple devices I've purchased the past few years have had screen issues.

Set it up which will take forever and a day, maybe longer since the entire world will be hammering the iTunes App Store re-downloading all their apps. Good move Apple removing that capability from Macs. I get removing it from iTunes but you could at least have pushed out an iDevice App Manager app for those of us that like to do so offline.

All these people who waited up late at night/woke up at an ungodly hour to refresh an app frantically just to be given the privilege of spending $1000, and now suddenly they are going to ‘go on with their day’ come on, pull the other one.

Interesting take. Wasn’t as frantic as you make it seem. Got up and refreshed maybe 3-5 times then placed an order and went to sleep. Some of us want a new phone without having to wait. It’s really not a big deal to all of us.
