Bought my workstation components, studying the new hardware for my build later this week. Exciting new frontiers! Not too worried about windows as Ill be spending most of my time in application environments. Apple may have a chance to win me back in 2015, but this machine I'm building is gonna be crazy fast and upgradable, so they'd have to really bring it! I'm building in a Cosmos II case. Screw small and thin, give me POWER!

I'm thinking along the same lines.

How do you like it. How's the noise level under load, compared to a Mac Pro?

I watch a lot of movies and run a few programs while working on my website.. so it does a pretty good job. No noise.
My 13inch MBP 2010 base model the fan was constantly running and it did get pretty hot (couldn't put it on my lap) and I'd always get the rainbow timer when switching from one page/program to another.

The retina is an added bonus and came at the perfect time :p
I am enjoying it much more because of the bigger screen and doesn't get as hot when watching movies. :D

Although looking forward to a new MacPro which is blazingly fast, I'm Quite satisfied with my 2008 MP. Specs:

2x 2,8 GHZ Quad
Samsung 470 SSD (256 GB)
16 GB Ram
Ati 5770 Card (fast enough even for the occasional game)
eSata Card for Backups.

Does all it has to do, sometimes Rendering takes more than one Cup of Coffee - but hey - that Machine is 4 1/2 Years old! Quite impressive. Has really Paid for itself.

If the 2013 MP last 5 Years, I'll be quite happy!

If MP dies, I will go the Hackintosh Route!

Sounds really good.

I have to look into Photoshop performance. Just saw a Digiloyd review where some blurs took a very long time on the rMBP (not that one should use blur, anyway;) )... looks like it's a fantastic package with the GPU always working on its upper limits because of this amazing display.

One more year to go... just don't get too many cups of coffee while waiting on the rendering. You might get the shakes, and drop your new 2013 Mac Pro :D

Currently have a 2008 mac pro, and intend to keep. It's been faultless so far. Was in the market for an additional machine to help out on the occassional job, which my son was going to deploy, but have held fire unti l2013. Will keep going with another ageing macbook pro for the time being, but might invest in a rMBP when supplies are back to normal.

Gazza

Nothing. And I will still do nothing after the 2013 release. But the next one after that, I will buy :D
