Great album. Did you catch any of them at Glastonbury this past weekend?
That takes me back. I used to listen to some compelation or other on my Walkman (the sort with tapes!) which featured Vangelis. In a mood for some modern electronic instrumental music - hence, I am listening to several albums by Jon & Vangelis (or, indeed, simply Vangelis). Quite marvellous.

Still on the BBC iPlayer app if you can get it in the US.Unfortunately not!
Not in a music mood but wanted to share this for this threads Pink Martini fans:
Sound Check (on WNYC, New York's NPR): Pink Martini's Exotic Musical Journey Continues (22 minutes of audio):
"Portland, Oregon-based Pink Martini whisks listeners away on globetrotting musical journeys, singing in Armenian, Portuguese, Arabic, French & Xhosa, among many other languages - and that's just their latest record, Je Dis Oui!. Their founder, pianist Thomas Lauderdale, recently described the group this way: "If the United Nations had a house band in 1962, we aspire to be that band." The 'little orchestra'- some 12-members strong, takes over our studio."
Web Extra: Pink Martini plays their version of the Miriam Makeba classic "Pata Pata."
Actually, I saw them play live on their recent European tour - my brother got me a ticket for my birthday - and they played quite a few tracks from this album (which I managed to acquire subsequently).
Currently listening to the timeless, immortal Buena Vista Social Club, from the album of the same name.
Nice! They're in my queue, but I'm already behind on my other media escapes.
I'm embarrassed that I never saw Buena Vista. Just wasn't possible when it came out. Fortunately, I was able to get a promo of the Ibrahim Ferrer CD (his first and the initial follow-up to the soundtrack). I love it. I've been tempted to buy the soundtrack itself, but the surround version is long out of print and is usually pricey so I've held off to avoid a double-dip. I did, however, recently purchase Criterion's new blu-ray and I'm saving it for just the right kind of rainy day.
How is the bonus disc? And how is the sound quality on the reissue? Too often re-releases are "brickwalled" -- audio levels maxed out such that foreground and background elements are presented at such a similar volume level. It can ruin the balance and nuance of the original mix.
Yesterday was a supergroup listening day.
Today was a Downunder kinda day.
Actually I think he listens to rap and that is basically Cockney rhyming slang for a pony.
