Actually, it's not a find. I purchased that album new back then at Budget Tapes and Records.

Very nice buy! You bought that in the US as well. It would be an even rarer find to catch that in Europe.

For those not in the know (outside of the obvious $ sign on the pricetag), Animal was the first single released off that album worldwide, except in the US, where Women was released as the first single. Animal became a hit worldwide, Women was a disaster, barely breaking the top 100 (I believe it hit #75 or #80, then tanked).

Because of that, the album didn't chart well in the US until Pour Some Sugar On Me came out, which they ended up selling 450,000 copies of the album in a day, and 12 million copies over the production of the album (which was lucky for them because they had to sell 5 million to break even from paying for the cost of making the album).

But to find it on vinyl back then prior to it exploding from Sugar is a killer find. Hold onto that one!

I have no plans to ever get rid of it. It was a fun time in my life during that decade including getting to see Pink Floyd live a few months later.

I believe I only played this album a few times and one of them was to record it onto cassette so I could play it in the car. I played it through in it's entirety yesterday and it sounded amazing.

I find myself actually sitting back and listening to the music when I play vinyl then when I play my iPod or stream music.

Another rare album that I have is the Led Zeppelin 2 album. It has a cover that is different then the cover that was released in the later years.

Also, the first Black Sabbath original release LP that I have has Ozzy's name as John Osbourne. He wasn't going by Ozzy at the time yet I think.

Had to put this one on again. Such a great album. Black Sabbaths first. The label on the LP has Ozzy's name as John Osbourne but the cover lists it as Ossie Osbourne.

An oldie, a classic, from - oh, a few decades or so ago (indeed, I recall it being played on the TV series 'Miami Vice' - a series which often had a terrific soundtrack if memory serves).

Anyway, the group I am listening to were called The Damned, and, here, I am playing their song 'In Dulce Decorum' on my computer.

Now, those who like seriously good poetry will recognise the stunning poem which bears the same title by Wilfrid Owen.

Love The Damned. I still have some vinyl of theirs, one is colored, clear yellow if I recall. New Rose makes it into many of my playlists :D

Random fun fact: I used to use Captain Sensible as a handle on old BBS systems

The album Avalon by Roxy Music.

Ah, wonderful. A lovely piece of music……..

Actually, I remember buying that particular song as a 45 rpm single (oh, the memories), and then, the best part of two decades later, buying it as one of a number of Roxy Music CDs (all of which are now on my iPod, that is, the recently discontinued masterpiece known as the iPod Classic…..)

Bought 3 older Slayer albums off iTunes yesterday. Had previously been listening to a bunch of electronic stuff recently (The Presets, Midnight Juggernauts).
