In a coffee shop.
Had friends back for a bottle or two of excellent French white wine - discussed in detail elsewhere.

However, background music was supplied by my trusty iPod, sitting in a dock with small speakers, more than perfectly adequate for the job in question, and playing the immortal and always wonderful Buena Vista Social Club, and - once again my thanks @mobilehaathi for having recommended this to me - but the CD 'Rome' (D Luppi & B Burton) is seriously good listening. Lovely stuff.

A lovely album - one which is more of a sort of homage really to the musical forms of the jazz age, but one which also displays an utterly confident mastery and a sublime understanding of them of them, as well.

Perhaps, not surprisingly, the album, is called "The Jazz Age" and it is by The Bryan Ferry Orchestra.

An old favourite, but not one I have listened to recently: The album is "Liberty Belle And The Black Diamond Express", the song is "The Wrong Road" (a song I loved the very first minute I heard it all of thirty years ago), and the group are "The Go Betweens".

Speaking of thirty years ago: This morning (and endless afternoon) in the consultant's surgery (where we were compelled to await a few stupid extra hours, to my inexpressible annoyance) I had odd, and vaguely, disjointed thoughts.

Over the tannoy, or radio, I know not which, I heard Queen and their sublime, stunning and strange song Bohemian Rhapsody - a genuinely, earth-shattering classic, and one which was recognised, as such, even at the time - all of exactly forty years ago. Which I remember. And, yes, that single, simple, act gave me pause for thought...

I'm currently listening to "Stephin Merrit", which is a parody of The Magnetic Fields' "Andrew In Drag", on repeat. Instead of falling in love with Andrew, the singer finds himself—despite his sexuality—enamored with the lead singer/songwriter of The Magnetic Fields.

"Reality" - Lost Frequencies (f. Janiek Devy)

^ It is like my "Waves" (Robin Schultz) by Mr. Probz for 2015. Mix the aforementioned songs with "I Got You" by Duke Dumont (f. Jax Jones) and you can have a nice beach party with fine women and alcohol...:cool:

Any place but here or there....
Crap, three of my favorite bands dealt major blows in the past three months:

first the untimely passing of Drummer Martin "Kiddie" Kearns from Bolt Thrower in mid-September

then Philthy Phil Taylor drummer of Motorhead passed two weeks ago

just found that out along with...

Hail of Bullets essentially firing vocalist Martin Van Drunen late last week.

I am absolutely ***** gutted.
