Another bit of battery life info.

This morning I upgraded my M1 MBA (8 GB / 256 GB) to MacOS 11.1:
  • When I started the battery charge was at 79%
  • I did not plug in the charger, so I could see the effect on the battery charge
  • At least one reboot (I wasn't constantly at the MBP) occurred during the upgrade
  • After 2 hours 45 minutes when I checked (after upgrade ws finished) the battery charge was at 61%

My base model M1 pro continues to impress me, Updated it to 11.1 yesterday morning, charged battery to full after I finished using my Mac, turned off my Mac, turned it on this morning after being shut down for 21 hours, smashing safari watching YouTube, browsing the net for 2 hours, battery has gone from 100% to 96% what a absolute beast, remember my intel pro use to get warm just from me looking at it, have yet to feel this machine get hot so far.

Good riddance intel, you will be missed, NOT!!!

The battery life on these things is insane. I had a 2020 MBP 13 with 32gb, and when I ran some apps (specifically Microsoft Office and Zoom, which I need often), it would EAT battery.

Last week, I was in a Zoom call for over 4 hours, for most of it, I was also downloading large files (GameCube roms lol) in the background. I went from 100% to 80%, which is completely insane.

  • Battery life
  • The number ARM apps already becoming available.
  • iOS apps changing the way I use my Mac.

Can you name some of the iOS apps you’re using ?

How’s the new window system on Big Sur 11.1 ?

Asking because I’m still waiting for my Mac mini to arrive...

I HUNGER
Only had it two days so haven't had a chance to put it through its paces properly but the stuttering issues I had in Keynote are gone. I think if you like 13" size computers the air is a really great computer and unless you need the pro for specific use cases, I think it's an abosolute winner of a buy. Really great value for money. It's light, compact, well shaped, looks good and is a beast underneath.

I personally prefer the old keyboards circa 2013 that had a bit of a sponge like feel to them. I find this new keyboard a little shallow and hard. It's the same as my iMac keyboard though so I guess I'll get used to it and just be happy it's not the 2016-2018 keyboard that had all the issues.

Speed. I had not expected my mini to be this fast with 8GB of RAM. I read people's posts, but thought they were exaggerating, but they were not. Everything is zippy! Even when I have a bunch of applications open and running, or have video playing while I'm doing stuff.

It feels like an all in one package for everything I need. I have been using my gaming desktop for everything up until this point and my air blows it out of the water in video editing. I was surprised by the font book which makes it really easy to see what I install.

Pixelmator with its machine learning image upscaling has been amazing as well.

Being fanless makes recording much cleaner. My gaming desktop sounds like a jet engine.

Now of course there are things that my desktop does way better, but this has quickly took a majority of my daily tasks and became my daily driver. Freaking love this device.

I agree fully with Moonwalk - I think this is Jobs' long-term plan coming to fruition. I'm no tech expert but it seems to have his fingerprints all over it. I've ordered a MBA 16/2tb and can't wait to see where it gets me :D

The whole package of my MBP Base model.

Insane battery life with insane performance in a great package. I've used a lot of laptops in the past years, several MacBooks (Pro & Air) and Windows laptops (thin & lights comparable to the MacBooks) and the only laptop that gave me the same WOW feeling, but in a lesser extent, was the first 15" Retina MacBook Pro. All other ones were good but not wanting me to use it a lot.

Just how quiet this machine is, I have the 2020 socked out for and that think just made noise all the time. This think is stone cold quiet.

Speed, battery life, it just doesn't get warm. Also its unnerving to have a laptop so quiet haha.
