I was definitely the same way. I went from a little T2i starter kit to a 1DX and 300 2.8 IS II within months and it never stopped until I finally got burnt out and sold most of it.

I was the same, eventually I realised I was spending far too much time (and money) mucking about with kit and software and not enough taking photos. I just have a small point and shoot now.

A Tormek T-4. I don’t really need one, but it would be wonderful to have when I have to have a sharp edge on one of my tools.

A water cooled sharpening stone, basically. Great for wood chisels, knives, and scissors, among other things. Then there’s the T-8, which would really be over the top for my purposes.

We’ll see how long I can hold out.

I miss grinding tools to use on a lathe. I don’t need one but I do think a nice wood turning lathe would fit well in my garage!

Well, since you have a garage, then you should absolutely have a wood lathe to go in it!

As it turns out, my SO’s dad has an old Shop Smith, which appears to be in good working order. At least it’s in an enclosed shop inside of a barn. He no longer has use for it, so I may have to dust it off and see what it can do.

What am I trying to prevent myself from buying? Any of the following:

  1. Mac Pro 7,1
  2. Apple Pro Display XDR Nano
  3. A Ubiquiti Mesh WIFI system
  4. JBL 4307 speakers
  5. A tube amp from the 70s

This gorgeous pen from Montblanc...

A Victor Hugo homage

Update: Did not succeed. Gorgeous little thing this pen.

Trying to hold off for 2021 models because I want the black optics option added.

We have this lot at work just sitting there, but I can't imagine what I'd do with it. View attachment 588596

This is why the world is so full of electronic waste. Because people have no idea how to really use a computer, and get an extended life out of it. All most users know how to do is point and click around a GUI, and because they're so limited with computers, they also live in fear, and are terrified of using dated hardware and software.

This is why in many ways the GUI is the worst thing to ever happen to computers. Because it has literally lobotomized a majority of the computer user world. Back in the 60's through 80's virtually everyone knew how to truly use a computer. Now anyone with basic hand eye coordination can have the delusion that they have some type of computer skill, because they can see something and click on it.

End rant.

Just saw this... would love to have a couple of those to just play with... tune 'em up and get out of them what ever they are still capable of (still quite a bit, I'd imagine)... I have always loved the older Mac style... classic, elegant and, well, so Apple. Not that fugly "trash can" Mac, about which Phil Schiller smirked "can't innovate, my a$$". Sorry, Phil... you missed it on that one... give me the cheese grater any day.

Wow! Blast from the past. I posted that in 2015! Sold them all to a guy. About £70 each as I recall. But he took them away and I needed the space at work.
