Ever have your eye on something that you really want but definitely don't need?
What are you trying to keep yourself from buying right now?
Nothing really……. Less is more.
Having lived a rather itinerant life for many years, and still a low income without access to credit, I have to need or really want something before I add to my possessions. Owning too much is a hassle.
I didn't hesitate to buy the original Mac Mini when it first arrived in 2005. I was starting to need my own computer. I wanted something easily transportable from time to time, but I didn't want a portable. The Mini arrived at an opportune moment. I am on to my second Mac Mini, which should be good for another couple of years. It is the most expensive thing I own.
I could, however, be tempted by the Fujifilm X-Pro2.
I got my first digital camera about 4 years ago, an end of line special. Rugged, but with a few shortcomings. Still, people seemed to like my sports photos, many of which were used on websites. I wanted something better, so for a Fujifilm X20, which cost five times as much, but produces much better pictures. Quite a few are used in the local press. The X-Pro2 and a couple of lenses would cost five times as much again, but would be another step up in image quality…..
But if I did, a newer Mac Mini would really be required to make the most of it. The problem of the possessions treadmill, eh?
