I've gone back to Leopard, it doesn't seem to be heating up so much, but I haven't really tested. I'll give it a few more days. I asked about the temps because I thought this machine would be cooler than my MBP, but it isn't. I really love the macbook air, it's the perfect machine for me (asside from a barely noticeable monitor issue and the heat).

I found safari 4 caused me more heat issues than 3 .....
So I use safari 3 still on my MBA

I own a RevC 2.13 MBA with SSD and the fans have only ever kicked in once and that was after an hour or so on my lap.

when situated on a hard service it runs as cool as Usher.

when I first received it I performed a erase and install leaving out all the stuff I don't need.

currently run iWork (mostly Pages and Keynote), Safari, Mail, VLC (or RealPlayer) simultaneously and never experienced the heating issues mentioned elsewhere.

by the way I am in the Sth Hemisphere - east coast Australia to be precise - and we are way cool down here anyways! ;)

yeah i have no clue it was really really hot and fan was full on

Just curious, is anyone using one of thos plastic proctive coverings that snap onte the computer? Just wonder if their insulating ability is prevent the aluminum skin from being an effective heat sink.

Thats weird. My system throttles back when it hits into the 80 deg C mark. I have CoolBook enabled (stock voltage though) so I can control the throttle without OSX throttling back cause its "getting hot in here, so take off all your clothes"

I'm using defaults for AC power right now. But the settings I've gotten for battery are:

800 MHz - 0.925
1.6 GHz - 0.925
1.86 GHz - 0.950
2.0 GHz - 0.9625
2.13 GHz - 0.975

Medium Throttling for all.

No crashes and I'm a heavy battery user so I'd know if theres any crashes. I constantly use my vista virtual machine on battery so I want to squeeze as much life as I can.

Its performing better (in terms of battery life) than my pervious Unibody 17" MacBook Pro w/ the 8 Hour battery that lasted 1.5 hours with a virtual machine running in the background on battery lol.

Do you enable the Temp Limit feature?

MBA 2.13 wSSD and Fusion and Fan that won't quit

I just got a new MBA 2.13 and loaded VMFusion and brought my work image over and loaded it into Fusion, now the fan will not slow down...Suggestion?

CPU running around 81 to 85 degrees
Fan at 6184rpm
only 20-25mb of memory left
CPU user at 4%, system at 61%

Is it Fusion?

yes running 2 operating sytems at the same time will really tax your machine

try letting vmware fusion use less ram
